Te Katonga Nui

🏘️ He uri, nāna te whare i hanga mō ngā uri

We had the privilege of going onsite at Te Katonga Nui to see the progress of the whare and sit down with Te Akau Wharehoka, kaimahi of Wano Building.

We spoke with him about what it means to be an uri of Taranaki Iwi, building homes for uri, and the hopes he carries for the whānau who will soon move into their new homes.

“Mauri tau. I want them to feel like they’ve finally come home.”

Te Katonga Nui is about more than building houses. It's about creating a place of belonging, connection, and a foundation for future generations.
