We have a new seasonal dish on the menu — our spin on the classic Catalan dish of barbecued calçots and romesco. We’re using baby leeks from Golden Mile Produce, which we confit in olive oil, paired with a romesco sauce featuring local Whiteheart hazelnuts from Uncle Joe’s and, of course, breadcrumbs from our .nz sourdough. We bring smokiness back in through , ancho chile, and a little aromatic oil made from charred leek tops.

We have some great artists and makers in the team at Astrolabe wines. When you come into our cellar door for a coffee, you’ll receive it in one of Tegan’s handmade ceramic cups, with specific shapes and sizes suitable for different types of coffee. Her colour palette reflects her natural environment, and when we commissioned her to make these pieces, she took the aesthetics of our Small Town Winery into consideration when making her glaze choices. They bring in earthy browns and greens that are in harmony with the surrounding landscapes of Marlborough and its vineyards. Tegan’s ceramics are also available for purchase in our cellar door. Follow Tegan or DM her for any commissions. Our cellar door and wine bar is open 7 days a week and we’re open today from 10am-8pm at 2 Horton St by the river.

Food by Sach and George will be here at the Small Town Winery tonight from 5 till 7.30 with their favourites menu, which includes their smoked beef burger, birria taco, Japanese fried chicken and more. Come inside to enjoy in our cosy cellar door alongside our extensive wine bar menu, with wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcohol drinks. We will be open on Monday too, from 10-8.

We are Blenheim’s only urban winery and cellar door, in walking distance from the centre of town. Our knowledgeable team of winemakers and cellarhands would love to guide you through a customised tasting of our wines. We have over 20 different Astrolabe wines to try on our tasting menu, including three library vintages and the sold out single vineyard Taihoa Sauvignon Blanc 2024. You can curate your own tasting from our extensive list or pick from one of our themed flights. The Sauv & Sip special for Sauvignon blanc tastings will be running until the end of the long weekend, with our Sauvignon blanc flight for $10. We also have 27 wines available by the glass, including some interesting guest wines from other great producers.

Enjoy a hotdog from anytime from 12 till 8 today at our winery and wine bar at 2 Horton Street. We will be open all King’s Birthday Weekend with our usual hours from 10am till late. Our Sunday food truck will be from 5 till 7.30. Our full wine bar food and drinks menu, including beer, cocktails and wine tasting flights, will be available throughout the long weekend.

Our vegan bruschetta is made with a base of roasted walnuts and shallots, blended into a smooth cream, then topped with intensely umami semi-dried tomatoes, with the sweetness tempered by the gentle bitterness of preserved lemon rind and a crumb made from dehydrated black garlic and black olives. It’s become one of our most popular here at the Small Town Winery. When Finn was creating this bruschetta, he was trying to approximate the flavour of a roast chicken — including the roasted shallots, garlic and lemon. The walnut cream’s gentle sweetness and deep umami make it a great vegan cheese alternative, so if you are vegan and want to try our smoked oyster mushroom bruschetta, ask our team for a substitute with the walnut cream.

Our next wine club meetup will be Tuesday the 2nd of June. Bring a wine with you, and our team will collect all of the wines and pour them blind. There were some really fun blind tasting moments in the lineup last time, including three remarkably different wines we tried in a row that were all Chenin blanc. This is a casual wine tasting with lots of different levels of experience amongst the group, so don’t be shy. It was great to see some first timers at our last tasting. If you don’t have something to bring, check out .marketstreet or we also have a box of interesting wines that you can pick from, and we will add it to the tasting lineup on your behalf. Cocktails made in house; wine made on site. Our version of a Charlie Chaplin swaps the sloe gin for local Pinot noir gin, still with the classic pairing of apricot brandy and lime. We use the plant-based cocktail foam from for a rich, velvety texture.
