Due to expansion, Hicks Mechanical now require a fully qualified, senior heavy diesel mechanic to hit the ground running. No two days are the same- you could be in the workshop one day and carrying out a field service or repairs the next.

This role involves focusing on repair and maintenance on a variety of medium to large civil plant, road transport, forestry, mining and agricultural equipment.

We are looking for someone who:
• Has excellent customer service, communication, and problem solving skills. Someone who is reliable and applies initiative throughout the job is essential.

• Has excellent analytical thinking and diagnostic abilities to enable them to deal with complex issues of a wide range of equipment on a day to day basis.

• Holds a clean, valid full driver’s license and is confident with manual and automatic transmission types. As a minimum, holding Class 2 and 4 license is desirable.

• Has completed a reputable heavy diesel mechanic apprenticeship and holds this qualification, preferably New Zealand certified.

• Has a strong understanding and passion for mechanics.

• Has previous experience working with heavy vehicles across all classes, specifically trucks and trailers.

• Has experience with welding & fabrication work.

• Is committed to operating in a safe environment.

• Has the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Is eligible to work in New Zealand.

Out doing a bit of Ag services this week including a head change-out and welding broken hydraulic pipes on a clients 12 tonne Hitachi excavator. I had to pull out the pop-up tent for a bit of shelter from the rain to keep things moving forward - On site shed sorted 👌

Great to be back at it now NZ is at Level 3. Wheel ends changed out with new brakes on this Cat 777c dump truck over the last two days, now ready to get back to work after the wheels are fitted. Hayden Hicks
