Sent out a warm favourite for the TWS Group sponsored two-year-old 1000 metre dash off the back of a winning debut. Plans are for the talented young Ekraar gelding to be targeted at the 2000 Guineas at Riccarton in November.

Cambridge-based Linwood Park Stud Limited has announced its service fees for the 2016 breeding season.
Proven sire Ekraar will stand at a fee of $10,000 plus gst and will once again represent great value for broodmare owners.
His progeny are still very popular with buyers as evidenced at last week's National Broodmare, Weanling and Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka.
A weanling c**t by Ekraar from She's Remarkable was sold for a very good return of $50,000 at the Karaka sale.
Ekraar is the sire of the Group 1 winners Rising Romance, Shez Sinsational, Ekstreme and Habibi and keeps producing the winners year-in, year-out.
Impeccably-bred Echoes Of Heaven will be standing at a fee of $6000 plus gst. He is an Encosta de Lago stakes-winning half-brother to the champion sire Redoute's Choice.
Echoes Of Heaven made an encouraging start with his first racetrack runners this season. He gained instant success with the win by The Duke Of Jazz at the Wanganui meeting. His progeny have turned plenty of heads.
Giant's Steps, who began stud duties at Linwood Park last year with a quality book of mares, will stand at a fee of $5000 plus gst.
Giant's Steps is closely related to Ekraar and Hussonet and is a dual Group 1 winner and the winner of six races.
He is a son of champion sire Giant's Causeway (six times Gr. 1 winner) who is the best son of Storm Cat and one of the best sires in the world.

Linwood Park stallions Giant's Steps, Ekraar and Echoes Of Heaven were warmly received by breeders during last week's Waikato thoroughbred stud tour. Stud manager Tony Mudgeway said newcomer Giant's Steps had settled in perfectly in his new home. "He has dappled up beautifully and bookings are already good," Mudgeway said. "Breeders who come to see him at the farm are very impressed and generally make a booking when they are here," he said. "He has an outstanding pedigree and at 16.1 hands he will suit all types of mares," he said. The first racing crop of Echoes Of Heaven, pictured, are headed for the racetracks this season and the reports from trainers and owners are highly encouraging. "Even though they are more likely to hit their straps as three-year-olds the signs are good that Echoes Of Heaven's two-year-old will make their mark," Mudgeway told the tour visitors. Remarkable Echoes Of Heaven will have two representatives in the first two-year-old race of the season at the Wanganui meeting on Saturday. Ekraar also looked in fine fettle and is set for another great season. His daughter, Rising Romance, will be among the major hopes for this year's Caufield and Melbourne Cups.

Watch a replay of today's Listed Flaming Page Stakes at Woodbine, won by the 2013 New Zealand Derby winner Habibi. (from The Informant: New Zealand’s leading source of racing news, form and expert tips)

The super-talented Habibi has finally shown North American audiences what she is capable of, powering home from midfield to claim an emphatic victory in the Listed Flaming Page at Woodbine in Canada today. Winning for the first time since her New Zealand Derby triumph at Ellerslie in March 2013, Habibi’s performance in today’s C$100,000 feature marked a welcome and spectacular return to top form. Held up in sixth place for most of the 12-furlong journey (2400 metres) by champion Canadian jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson, Habibi unleashed a fierce late sprint down the straight to overhaul her opposition and drive clear to win by a comfortable length. “I was a little worried the pace may string out and the leader could get away on her own,” Wilson said. “I just wanted to have my filly settled, covered in behind somebody and switch her off a little bit. She was just cruising easily. “A mile and a half is fun when you have a horse that can go the distance. She’s bred to do it.” A daughter of Ekraar and the Danasinga mare Danny Holiday, Habibi is now trained by Mark Frostad for owners Augustin Stable. Formerly raced by her breeders Heather and Peter Crofskey and trained at Ruakaka by Donna and Dean Logan, Habibi won six of her seven starts in New Zealand including the Derby, the Gr. 2 Great Northern Guineas and the Gr. 2 Championship Stakes. She had two starts at Group One level in Sydney for third and fourth in the Vinery Stakes and Australian Oaks, suffering a serious leg injury in the latter and not racing again for more than a month. Habibi has so far raced six times in North America for a variety of trainers. After two placings at allowance level, a fifth in the Gr. 3 Santa Barbara Handicap and eighth-place finishes in the Gr. 2 Royal Heroine Stakes and Gr. 3 Singspiel Stakes, this was the first appearance by the real Habibi and this was her first success. The six-year-old has now had 15 starts for seven wins, a second and two thirds.
"Big thrill, she's back," Heather Crofskey tweeted this morning.

Linwood Park Stud sire Ekraar was represented in the winners' circle at Te Rapa on Saturday. The success came with the Antony Fuller-trained four-year-old gelding Eksuude. Ridden by Samantha Collett, Eksuude won handsomely by two-and-a-half lengths in the 2100m event and looks to have a bright future.

Kevin Myers has always been a staunch supporter of young riding talent and the southern teenager Jacob Lowry has been the latest recipient of his willingness to give youth a chance. The Wanganui trainer engaged the 17-year-old for his outstanding flat performer Scapolo at Riccarton on Saturday and the apprentice repaid the faith shown in him with a cool display. Lowry was hemmed in on the fence in the straight and he had to be patient before he could cut loose on the course specialist, who accelerated sharply to win the Giant’s Steps @ Linwood Park Premier Sprint by three lengths going away. “There’s only one word for it – magic,” he said. ”He took the gaps and bolted through.” Scapolo has now has a career tally of 14 victories with apprentices Charlotte O’Beirne, Samantha Wynne, Brett Murray and Lisa Whelan also having shared the winning feeling on the Bachelor Duke gelding.
