Autumn Daylight Saving Hacks 🌙
This Saturday night, clocks fall back an hour, which can throw our sleep a little. It’s not as much of an adjustment for our bodies as the Spring change, but it can take a couple of days to adjust.
So, what do we do?
For people who don’t spend enough time in bed, the time change is a bonus, providing a chance for a bit more sleep. Go to bed at your usual time, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep you’ve been missing.
If you already give yourself plenty of opportunity to sleep but have insomnia-related sleep difficulties, avoid the temptation to spend the extra hour in bed. Instead, stay up an hour later than usual on Saturday night to build your sleep pressure and have a better chance of a good night’s kip.
For people already doing our Sleep Easy programme, stick with your planned amount of time in bed on Saturday night. This way, you will continue to consolidate your sleep and keep up your new habits for improving sleep efficiency. ✨
