It’s not just about rest; sleep is a cornerstone of our health, as vital as nutrition and exercise. Yet, many of us don’t talk about it, let alone seek help when sleep becomes a struggle. Instead, we push through, get used to restless nights, or try countless initiatives that might unintentionally prolong the problem.

Swipe through to learn more about women’s sleep health, with a spotlight on insomnia – a sleep issue that affects many women.✨

Autumn Daylight Saving Hacks 🌙

This Saturday night, clocks fall back an hour, which can throw our sleep a little. It’s not as much of an adjustment for our bodies as the Spring change, but it can take a couple of days to adjust.

So, what do we do?

For people who don’t spend enough time in bed, the time change is a bonus, providing a chance for a bit more sleep. Go to bed at your usual time, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep you’ve been missing.

If you already give yourself plenty of opportunity to sleep but have insomnia-related sleep difficulties, avoid the temptation to spend the extra hour in bed. Instead, stay up an hour later than usual on Saturday night to build your sleep pressure and have a better chance of a good night’s kip.

For people already doing our Sleep Easy programme, stick with your planned amount of time in bed on Saturday night. This way, you will continue to consolidate your sleep and keep up your new habits for improving sleep efficiency. ✨

World Sleep Day 2021✨

Take care of yourself and your sleep will take care of you.

We can’t force sleep, but there’s plenty we can do to create conditions that allow sleep to come to us. It starts with knowing what to do.

If you’re experiencing insomnia-related sleep difficulties and you’ve tried all the tips and tricks but still can’t sleep, it’s time for a better approach. With evidence-based knowledge, we can focus on doing things that are proven to make a difference.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia (CBTi) is internationally recognised as the gold standard treatment - it involves thought and habit training for sleep improvement. It’s practical, sensible and do-able.

It’s World Sleep Day, a perfect time to honour your sleep, and take a step towards learning how to get a good night’s sleep.
