Ko Ngāti Porou te iwi
Ko O Hine Waiapu te Marae
No Ōtautahi Te Waipounamu toku kainga tuuturu.
Ko Tania Kaa toku ingoa.
Tihei Mauri Ora!
Kia ora, I’m Tania. I’m married to Carlin, of Waitaha Ngāi Tahu descent, and together we share three adult tamariki — Riana, Tahu and Amaia — and one much-loved mokopuna.
I was born in Christchurch and raised in Aranui, a community that has deeply shaped who I am today. I am the daughter of Rev. Canon Whare Kawa (Sandy) Kaa of Rangitukia and Leanne Kaa of Christchurch, whose influence and values continue to guide my journey.
My career began in Kōhanga Reo before moving into primary and secondary education, becoming a qualified teacher in 1992. I later spent many years working in Māori radio, all while raising my whānau.
Much of my knowledge and passion comes from my upbringing and from walking alongside my father in his commitment to community. That foundation has inspired me to now give back — supporting others through connection, culture, and lived experience.
Pic is of my gorgeous Whanau.
