Our packaging may not be glamorous, but it helps us reduce waste in our business! We reuse boxes from all our purchases, both for the business and personally. Any courier bags or small boxes we do purchase are 100% recycled, 100% recyclable and locally manufactured.

Sustainability is at the forefront of every decision we make. It makes me proud to ship high quality engineering parts in an old shoebox 😎

Working with plastics always makes conversations around sustainability tricky. Here's an example our endeavors to minimize our plastic waste, and carbon footprint, while still offering our valuable rapid prototyping & production services:

We're excited to share our first shipment of empty spools and used packaging to KiwiFil in Tokoroa! A 1kg spool of filament will often come on an un-recyclable plastic spool, weighing 200-250 grams (nearly 25% of the weight of useable material!!).

KiwiFil re-spools filament onto the spools, and ships them off in the used boxes, with a new label slapped on. How good!

We also sent a large box of failed prints and support material to be ground up and re-extruded into recycled filament.

Big thanks to TransWorks Ltd for offering up some boot space on a vehicle already travelling up SH1, further reducing the embodied carbon of this initiative!

We are fully back in the swing of things again after a big holiday break!

Check out this 3 part architectural model that we engineered to snap together magnetically. Should be easier to move between stores and trade shows, with less risk of being damaged.

Other work included prototype vacuum form moulds for a local packaging company, and a 3D scan of a Māori chess set, including this proud Rangatira.

Check out these GF ABS prototypes we made for a marine stainless engineering business!

Glass fibre ABS is more rigid than CF Nylon, cheaper and less hygroscopic. it also has a wicked surface finish.

A tasty reward for a job well done!

We developed the latest set of pick'n'mix lollies for the iconic Oamaru based company Rainbow Confectionery.

We 3D scanned & scaled existing lolly designs, as well as 3D modelling some of the designs ourselves - I'm particularly proud of the car! The designs were set into an SLA resin mould, which is used to create the silicone negatives used on the production line.

All of the cavities are the same volume, ensuring a smooth production process, and a more uniform lolly count in each bag.

Here's another great use of our prototyping services:

A local jeweler has been working regularly with us over the past few months. Our rapid SLA service allows for custom designs to be printed overnight - in this case, so that customers can double check the form and fit of their dream ring.
