Three common reasons a solar system does not perform as expected:

1. The design ignored shade.
A chimney, tree or neighbouring roof can affect far more than the small patch it appears to cover.

2. The array and inverter were poorly matched.
Roof directions, string lengths, MPPT inputs and operating limits all need to make sense together.

3. The home exports most of its generation cheaply, then buys power back later.
Moving hot water, EV charging or other loads into daylight hours can change the result without adding another panel.

Monitoring matters too. If nobody looks at the data, a fault can sit quietly for months.

Solar performance is not just panel wattage. It is design, installation and how the home uses the energy afterward.

This Opawa home is not short on stored energy.

Our team installed 21 Suntech 440W panels, two GoodWe 6kW hybrid inverters and five Lynx Home U battery modules—25.7kWh of storage in total.

The four solar strings, dual inverters and backup changeover arrangement made this a job where clear planning really mattered. It needed to operate as one system and still be understandable to the next electrician who opens the board.

I like battery projects, but I do not like battery installations that look as though the wiring was decided one cable at a time. This one was kept organised from the start.

Well done to the team for a strong finish, and thank you to the homeowner for trusting Grenz Electrical with a substantial energy system.

Solar makes the energy. Good integration makes it useful.

Yes, I’m very messy when I’m working.

But we’re breaking stereotypes about electricians - we actually clean up after ourselves!

Good electrical work, a tidy finish, and no evidence we were ever there… well, apart from the new solar system on your roof... hahaha

Sometimes the sweetest feedback comes from our youngest customers.

At one of our recent solar installations, the kids were very impressed to see that the future was now sitting right on their roof - in the form of solar panels!

And apparently, our team made an impression too, because they created these wonderful drawings especially for us.

I feel it’s only right to share these masterpieces with you!
