Bleed is extra image that extends outside the trimmed job/artboard size. Without it, any slight variance in cutting or mounting can leave a white edge on your finished sign. On large format installs where walls are rarely perfectly straight, that margin for error gets bigger.

For Orana Wildlife Park, every graphic element was produced to perform in open-air conditions where exposure, foot traffic, and constant public use are part of daily operations. Here’s something that often catches people out.

The colours you see on a screen are created using light. Red, green, and blue. Increase them all and the result is white. Print works differently. We produce colour using inks. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
Two completely different systems.

That’s why colours that look extremely vibrant on screen can appear flatter once printed. It’s not a production error. It’s simply how the two colour models behave.

The best approach is to design in CMYK from the beginning. If you’re unsure, talk to us before finalising your artwork and we’ll help make sure it translates properly into print.
