Senior Associate – Shubham Asija Social
Big Congratulations to Shubham Asija! 🎉 We’re excited to celebrate Shubham’s well deserved promotion to Senior Associate. Shubham joined our Hamilton office in 2022.
Shubham has worked on projects such as Waihi Beach Stormwater Upgrades, IAF Watermain Upsizing Packages 1 and 2, as EtC, Borman Horsham Downs Roads Construction, and multiple 3water renewals programmes.

Albany School Hall Opening
Earlier this month, Octa was pleased to attend the opening and blessing of the new Albany Primary School Hall—a special moment marking the successful handover of a new space designed as a flexible, welcoming environment to support assemblies, sport, performance, and wider school and community events.

Reaching this milestone was made possible through close collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Albany Primary School, Watts & Hughes Construction, and Jasmax, with a shared focus on delivering a high‑quality outcome for the school community. It was great to see students, staff, and project partners come together to formally welcome the hall into use.

The project was led by Octa Project Manager Adelene Han, who brings over 15 years’ experience delivering successful school and education projects, with a strong focus on collaboration, programme certainty, and quality outcomes. Octa is proud to have supported the school through delivery and close‑out and looks forward to seeing the hall enjoyed for years to come.

Aryl Joye – Hawkes Bay Regional Lead
We’re excited to share that Aryl Joye has stepped into the role of Octa’s Hawke’s Bay Regional Lead.
Leading growth across the wider Hawke’s Bay Region, Aryl has a strong track record of delivering results and technical excellence.
Located at 3 Byrom Street, Napier, Octa’s Hawke’s Bay Office opened in 2024 and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
Before relocating to Napier, Aryl joined Octa’s Wellington Office as a Senior Project Manager in 2023 and has rapidly progressed to Senior Associate after delivering a wide range of projects and earning recognition as a trusted leader in project delivery.
Aryl has been responsible for various complex building and infrastructure projects across the country for both public and private sector clients including Health New Zealand, Heritage New Zealand, Wellington City Council and Foodstuffs.
This move marks an important step in expanding our presence and strengthening our impact in the region.

The Court Theatre, Christchurch
Congratulations to the Christchurch City Council and project team for their $60M Court Theatre nomination in the Civic, Health and Arts category at the Property Council Property Industry Awards.
The Court Theatre is a purpose-built performing arts facility delivered in partnership between Christchurch City Council. The circa 3,700m² building comprises a 379-seat main auditorium, flexible 130–150 seat studio-theatre, rehearsal and education spaces, production workshops, and public amenities including café and bar. Designed as a fully integrated producing house, it brings performance, making and public engagement together under one roof.

Friends of Resthaven Foundation Charity Golf Day

Octa Project Management are proud to be sponsors of the friends of Resthaven Foundation charity golf day in Cambridge Hamilton. There was lots of good banter and golf for a good cause. We’re grateful to the Friends of Resthaven Foundation and the Lions Club of Cambridge for hosting such a well‑organised and meaningful event, and we look forward to being part of it again.

Apartments on Vogel: The Structure Takes Shape
A major milestone is now visible on site at the Apartments on Vogel for the Cambridge Resthaven Community Trust. With cranes in action and teams working in sync, Buildings A & B are rising from the ground. Ground floor tilt panels and steel framing are now in place, giving the development its first clear form, while Level 1 precast balconies mark an exciting step into the next construction phase. Each lift brings Stage 2 of Resthaven’s campus redevelopment vision closer to reality.

Project managed by Octa’s project managers, Holly Singh and Mia Sonntag, with Scott McVicar-Lukey as Engineer to Contract.

Leadership Changes – Hamilton, Tauranga and Christchurch

To support Octa’s continued growth, I’m pleased to announce the appointments of Wade Kobus to a national business development role, the transfer of Adrian Thein to the role of Hamilton Director and Branch Manager and Tauranga Director, and Mia Sonntag to the role of Hamilton Assistant Branch Manager effective immediately. Brian Taylor will continue as Hamilton Director and Stuart Taylor as Christchurch Branch Manager and Associate Director.

Wade and Brian have successfully the led the expansion of our Hamilton and Tauranga offices over the past five years, while Adrian has been a director of our Christchurch office for over ten years.
