New Zealand Commercial Project Awards - The Court Theatre

Congratulations to the Christchurch City Council and Hawkins Construction for being honoured the Gold Medal Award for the Court Theatre at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards in the Tourism and Leisure Project category.

The project was delivered through a highly collaborative procurement and construction process, integrating specialist theatre, acoustic, structural, and services requirements within a constrained central-city site.
Sustainably sourced timbers and recycled finishes are used throughout along with naturally assisted ventilation to the main auditorium and foyer, reflecting The Council’s and Court Theatre’s deep commitment to environmental responsibility.

Albany School Hall Opening
Earlier this month, Octa was pleased to attend the opening and blessing of the new Albany Primary School Hall—a special moment marking the successful handover of a new space designed as a flexible, welcoming environment to support assemblies, sport, performance, and wider school and community events.

Reaching this milestone was made possible through close collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Albany Primary School, Watts & Hughes Construction, and Jasmax, with a shared focus on delivering a high‑quality outcome for the school community. It was great to see students, staff, and project partners come together to formally welcome the hall into use.

The project was led by Octa Project Manager Adelene Han, who brings over 15 years’ experience delivering successful school and education projects, with a strong focus on collaboration, programme certainty, and quality outcomes. Octa is proud to have supported the school through delivery and close‑out and looks forward to seeing the hall enjoyed for years to come.
