Another fun but challenging remodel ~ 😁

The two original rings this beauty was created from had certainly seen their fair share of life…

and their owner wanted something new, more suited to her life now ~

She loves flowing designs… fortunately, so do I… 💛

I came up with this design, simple yet bold, with the beautiful yellow diamond taking centre stage.

It's not every day I get to work with a diamond like this, and I wanted to make sure it remained the star of the piece 🤩

Most importantly ~ the customer loved it! ~

Now, a little about this ring…

This particular remodel was both fun and challenging!

My customer wanted something quite special…

A landscape she could wear on her finger…

From her property, she can see the mountains… 🏔️ and she also has a dry riverbed running through it…

The challenge was to capture those features in a piece of jewellery without making them too literal…

I feel the finished ring is almost more of an abstract sculpture than a traditional piece of jewellery ~ 🫟

Something a little different, and a lot of fun to create!

With several hundred new followers joining the page over the last few weeks…I thought it was a good time to introduce myself 😀

I'm Brett, a self-employed jeweller and the owner of BL Jewellery ~ ✨💛✨~

My passion for jewellery making actually began at primary school, when a teacher taught a small group of us how to make traditional bone carvings

I took what I'd learned and, at just 12 years old, turned it into my first little business, selling my carvings through my mother's shop .

Fast forward to my final year of high school here in New Zealand. I was pretty much just killing time and had no real idea what I wanted to do with my life 🤷🏼‍♂️

My father suggested jewellery making as a career, so we visited a well-established jeweller in central Christchurch…

After a two-week trial, I was offered an apprenticeship, and that was the beginning of my career.

Over 30 years later, I still love what I do 💚

I've always enjoyed working with natural materials, particularly greenstone and wood, and combining them with precious metals to create something a little different ~ 🤩

So… everyone who's recently joined the page, welcome!

Have you ever wondered what possibilities might be sitting forgotten in your jewellery drawer? 🧐

Would you wear a statement piece like this… or prefer something a bit more understated? 🧐

Over the past few years I’ve been really drawn to making flowing spiral / koru designs…

I love designs that remind me of nature & flow nicely around the finger ~

This design is a variation on a ring I made previously… featuring two beautiful natural Australian green sapphires 💚 & diamonds flowing through the Koru inspired design ~

~✨💚💛✨~

Made in solid 9ct yellow gold and weighing just under 13 grams, it’s a really substantial piece.

This stunning remodel was made using a customer’s gold and diamonds ~ 💛💎

We added the centre tourmaline and different shades of pink sapphires down the shoulders ~ 🩷🌸

The end result — a very sparkly pink statement piece

This remodel started out as an engagement ring and wedding ring that had seen their best years and needed some work to repair them 😔

The customer decided she would rather have them remodelled into something completely new 😀

After some consultation, we came together on this koru/fern-inspired design ~ 💚🌀💚

The end result looks great and has a lovely flowing, organic feel to it ~ ✨💛✨~

Most importantly, the customer loved it~
