This jewellery job involved something I had never encountered before, and something I didn't even know existed… 🤷🏼♂️
A lovely customer contacted me wanting a ring made from a small piece of gold that held a very personal meaning ~ 💛
Four years earlier she had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumour 😔
During her recovery, she was left unable to fully close one eye, so a small gold weight was surgically implanted into her eyelid to allow it to function normally while she healed…
Eventually the weight was removed.
Rather than put it away in a drawer, she wanted it transformed into something that would remind her not of the challenges she faced, but of the strength it took to overcome them ~ 👊🏼
To create the ring in the final photo, I melted down her gold together with some antique sterling silver teaspoons… 🥄
Some over 100 years old… and set a diamond to complete the piece ~ 💎
As jewellers, we're often entrusted with sentimental items, but every now and then a story comes along that reminds you that jewellery can represent much more than precious metals and gemstones.
This ring is a reminder of resilience, hope, and a chapter of life that deserved to be celebrated ~ ✨💛✨~
