It was a privilege to have Michael Hempseed as speaker at our relaunch event earlier this month. Michael's informed and witty presentation debunked some myths that surround su***de awareness and prevention.
What I learned is how critical sleep is, and how social isolation plays a big part too.
My big takeaways:
- stay connected, and
- if you're concerned about someone around you, have the courage to say something to them. You could just be the one who makes a difference.

What is Future of Business?
Started in 2019 by Peter McKaskell, Future of Business began by bringing together Canterbury business leaders and executives for networking and sharing of ideas. Peter and the founding members could see the seeds of greatness and innovation within our business community and economy. We have all seen huge amounts invested in Canterbury over the last 10 years and one of the things it has given us is a platform to grow world leading businesses in our own “backyard”. Peter’s vision: a forum where leaders can share ideas, brainstorm, and collaborate. To provide an encouraging environment that supports economic growth for our businesses, our community and our region.

However, after news of a serious health challenge, Peter put the events on ice.

2020 has brought its own challenges; lockdowns; a first wave of redundancies; more expected and a strange new normal that is anything but normal.

Now more than ever is the time to kickstart Future of Business events. Wherever possible, events will be face to face, networking, speakers and panel discussions.

So, whether you are pivoting, transforming, kickstarting or simply keen to share ideas with like-minded business-people, Future of Business is the place for you.
