From tomorrow, AirShare factors in tower watch hours when processing your flight request - giving you a clearer picture of what happens next, before you submit.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬:
🟢 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬: Your flight automatically moves to Declared
🟡 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬: Your flight goes to Pending/Provisional Authorisation, and you'll need approval before you fly.

Please note that tower watch hours can change, sometimes at short notice. The current info available at the time you submit will be applied to your request.

𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩
Even if your flight is Declared, please activate it in the AirShare app when you start operating. This helps other airspace users know what's happening around them, and keeps the airspace safer for everyone.

We have just released a new update for the AirShare mobile app, bringing several key improvements to your flight planning experience.

What is new:
𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀: You can now select heights on control zone aerodromes as a dedicated map layer for better situational awareness.
𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝟭𝟬𝟭: If you have an approved Part 101 night rating, you can update this directly in the app.
𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: New sign ups can now choose to receive your mobile verification via WhatsApp.
𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: We have rolled out several bug fixes, map improvements, and advisory updates to make the app smoother and more reliable.

Please note: you will need to update your app to see these improvements. Download the latest version from the App Store or Google Play today.

𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

In the maps on AirShare (web initially), we have now added height restriction values for drones flying near controlled airports.

On the maps, you will now see values showing the maximum height you’re likely to obtain authorisation to operate - unless the runway is not in use or you have an agreement with ATC.

You’ll see two different height references:

𝐀𝐆𝐋 𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
The maximum height the UAV pilot can fly Above Ground Level

𝐀𝐀𝐄 𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
The maximum height the UAV pilot can fly Above Aerodrome Elevation - refer to picture for further explanation.

When you file your flight in one of these areas, you will be advised of your flight's AAE.

𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 — 𝐔𝐀𝐕 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 (𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝟐𝟐 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓)

AirShare has been updated to reflect the latest changes to Civil Aviation rules for drones and advanced aviation introduced on 22 December. As part of this update, the following changes are now live:

➡️ Shielded flight guidance has been updated to reflect the new rules (Web only)
➡️ Part 101 night flights are now available for approved operators

If you hold an approved Part 101 Night Rating, you can enable this in your AirShare profile (on web) by selecting the Part 101 Night Rating option – see screenshot below. If you’re accessing the AirShare app on mobile, you can enable this by updating your pilot profile.

With the new Civil Aviation Rules coming into effect on 𝟮𝟮 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, AirShare is fully supportive of these updates - including the new Part 107 and the introduction of Transport Instruments.

While the rules go live next week, we are currently working behind the scenes to align the AirShare platform with the new changes.

𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 in early 2026 we will:
𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: update our guidance in the pilot app on the new 10m height allowance above the shield.
𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: provide the ability to log night flights (outside of shielded areas) as a Part 101 night rated pilot.

We’ve rolled out a new release of the AirShare web app with various new functions and features for drone pilots, to improve their AirShare experience. Here’s a couple of features included in the latest release:

𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞
Pilots can now extend their flight by up to 30 minutes if required.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐌𝐒 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬
Pilots can now choose how they receive messages and verify their AirShare accounts – either via WhatsApp or SMS.

We expect to release an AirShare mobile update in the next few weeks.
