A throwback to my first roar and first stag. One of those trips where you keep pushing through the thick leatherwood that cuts your legs up and makes you regret even getting out of bed. The anticipation of just seeing what’s around the next corner. Slowly but surely complacency sinks in and you begin to become heavy footed and start thinking about that cold beer in the fridge. Then this guy pipes up after 5 long hours on a scree slope and roars his head off at 70m. Let’s just say my grin from ear to ear soon shrunk as the animal dressed was 80kgs and took the three of us 6hrs to walk out. If only I knew how to butcher in the field back then!
