Well, its that time of year again!
All the team here at Martec Distribution would like to wish you and your families all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!

Child Safety:

Here are Martec Distribution we take child safety seriously!

As you may have heard through the media, there have been 6 deaths attributed to window furnishings over the last 13 years.
These deaths were caused by children becoming entangled in the control or lifting cords causing strangulation.

Our Child Safety Toggles and Wall Box Tensioners are specifically designed to mitigate this issue.

The Child Safety Toggles are designed to be used on the "lifting cords" in the back of Roman Blinds.
They are designed so that they provide enough tension to be able to lift the blind, but when weight is applied directly to a lifting cord (like in the case of a child putting their head behind the cord) the cord will detach from the blind, meaning it cannot form a closed loop.
These are a very simple and inexpensive way of removing the potential strangulation risk posed by the lifting cords.
(The Child Safety Toggles are manufactured to ensure blinds meet the safety requirements of the UK and European markets).
The RRP for these is just $1.00 (incl. GST) each, so the additional cost to a retail customer on an average blind of 4 cords is just $4.00.
These are also easily retrofitted to existing blinds.

We provide a free Wall Box Tensioner for the control chains with every Roman Blind Headrail we manufacture.
These can also be purchased from any window furnishing retailer and retrofitted to any blind currently not using one.

Freighting update: 24.02.2022

Dear valued customers.

We have just been informed By Fliway Transport that their Auckland depot is experiencing major issues due to Covid 19.
A large number of their staff have either tested positive or are isolating because of close contact.
Replacement staff were sent from Christchurch, but most of them have now either tested positive or need to isolate as well.

It should be expected that any freight moving through the Auckland depot will experience some sort of delay.

This is not just limited to Fliway Transport.
Most of the freighting companies with depots in the South Auckland area are also experiencing major issues associated with Covid 19, and as a result the general supply chain through the Auckland area is being greatly impacted.

Please be aware of this when awaiting your orders to arrive.

Just a reminder…
We send out invoices as the orders are dispatched.
Each invoice contains the tracking details for your order. Please use this information if you would like to keep track of your order status and estimated delivery time.

Moving forward, especially in the short term, it would definitely be advantageous to order well in advance, and if ordering stock items, we would suggest ordering and holding more.

At present, the other depots around the county are not experiencing the same sort of issues as the Auckland depot, and freight is moving much as normal through these areas, for the time being.

We will provide further updates as more information comes to hand.

UPDATE: 24.02.2022

Dear Valued Customers.

Just an update to confirm we have completed the move to our new (temporary) premises.
We are now located right next to our original building at 29A Dalziel Place.
We are in the same compound as our original building, so for anyone coming to see us or collect goods, please just come to the office on the left rather than to our usual offices on the right.

The building we are now in is much more suitable than the temporary premises we were previously operating from. We now have more space for storage and production, and now that we are settled and up and running, we are anticipating much less in the way of disruptions to our production moving forward.
This move to our new premises is definitely a positive step for us in our return to “normal” after the disruption of the fire in December.

We would also like to thank you for your patience and continued support!
It is greatly appreciated by all the team.

Martec Distribution: Update - 12.01.2022

Dear Valued Customers.

As you will know by now, we are set up and running out of our temporary premises at…
70 Maunsell Street, Woolston, Christchurch 8023.

We will be located at this premises for the next 5 weeks only (approximately).
At that stage we will move back to our original site, but into the building conjoined to our original building.
We will operate out of that premises until the repair work on our original building has been completed.
We estimate we will be back in our original building at 29 Dalziel Place by about July or August this year (although this is just an estimate at this stage).

As well as dealing with the disruption and stock loss due to the warehouse fire, and the ongoing Covid situation, we are also extremely busy with orders.
Because of this our turnaround times are longer than usual.
We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work through processing the orders.

Please contact us directly for any questions around stock availability and turnaround times.
We will endeavour to answer your questions as quickly and accurately as possible.

Hi everyone.

Just a quick update for you before we head into the Christmas break…

Following our warehouse fire on December 5th, we have moved into our new (temporary) premises at 70 Maunsell Street, Christchurch (not far from our usual building).
We are in the process of setting up and restocking ready to go for the New Year.
We plan on hitting the ground running in 2022, with us being able to manufacture and supply most everything within our range.
However, as we are still organising and replacing damaged stock, we ask for continued patience, especially when ordering the following items…
- Wood Rods and Wooden Architrac.
- Motorised Roman Blind Headrails and associated components.
- Keltic Finials and End Caps.
For these items we recommend that, at least in the short term, you check availability prior to ordering.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone for your continued patience and understanding.
It has been very humbling to receive so many messages of loyalty and support from all over the country.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry and safe Christmas and New Year!
We hope you enjoy the holiday period, whatever it may hold for you, and we look forward to talking with you all again in 2022!

Dear valued customers.

It is with great sadness that we are writing to you to let you know that our Factory and Office in Christchurch had a major fire incident over the weekend.

This fire was significant, and as such we have had to close the business until further notice.

We will make contact with customers awaiting orders to provide an update in due course.

In the meantime we ask for your patience and understanding as we work through the damage to try and work out what can and cannot be salvaged.

Just letting everyone know that we are up and running.
Obviously its not quite business as usual operating under Delta Level 2, but we are open and able to take orders and dispatch consignments.
(Being a wholesale manufacturing company means we can operate safely from Level 3 downwards).
Anyone visiting the factory for pick-ups etc. must comply with the Level 2.5 rules and wear a face mask and try and keep at least 2m social distance.
Obviously our thoughts are with our Auckland based customers!
We hope this situation can be sorted quickly to allow the Auckland businesses to open up and safely begin trading again!
