💛 Daffodil Day 💛

It’s Daffodil Day, so we’ve added a little splash of yellow to the Hunter Glass showroom!

Our team put together a wee window display to show our support for the Cancer Society and the amazing work they do for people affected by cancer across New Zealand.

We’ve also got a donation box sitting in the showroom, so if you’re passing through Ross Street and would like to chuck a few dollars in, we’d really appreciate it. Every little bit helps.

The lights are on again at Hunter Glass 💡

Over the past five weeks, many of you may have noticed our showroom looking a little dark.

The Hunter family has been overseas visiting family, and because our entire office team is related, we couldn't exactly leave one of us behind!

Armed with three laptops and plenty of good intentions, we worked remotely while our awesome glazing team Jason & Steve kept things running on the ground here at home.

A huge thank you to everyone who understood when the showroom was operating by appointment only.

We're now home, the lights are on, the coffee's brewing, and our normal opening hours have resumed.

This week our team was called in for an emergency repair, and not for the first time...

This Christchurch bike shop has unfortunately experienced multiple break-in attempts over the years, so when we first replaced this pane a while back, we opted for a seriously tough laminated glass unit.

We're pleased to say that the extra strength paid off, with this latest attempt failing to make it through!

Measuring at 2 square metres and nearly an inch thick, it's certainly no average piece of glass!

A big pat on the back for our three glaziers, fitting this 150 kilo unit! 💪

Clear views, no compromise on safety ⛰️

There’s something about glass that just makes sense. You still get the safety where you need it, but it doesn’t take over or make the space feel closed in. Whether it’s around a pool, along a deck or up a set of stairs, it quietly does its job without getting in the way.

We notice it every time - once the glass is in, everything feels a bit more open. You can actually enjoy the space properly and make the most of the view instead of looking through bars or panels. It’s one of those simple choices that just works, and it suits pretty much any setup without trying too hard.

There is something pretty special about being able to preserve features like this.

We're thrilled with how this one turned out and love how the light shines through, highlighting all the original detail and craftsmanship that went into creating it.

These two stunning shower installs were completed recently by our glazier Jason for show home in Arbor Green, Rolleston.

Featuring sleek frameless glass and brushed brass hardware, these bathrooms came together beautifully and really highlight how glass can elevate a space.

It’s officially been ONE YEAR since we moved into our Hunter Glass showroom and office in Darfield! 🎉

Since making the move, we’ve loved having a space where customers can pop in, chat with the team, explore ideas, and see products firsthand. From splashbacks and showers to retrofitting and repairs, it’s been great helping locals bring their projects to life.

This past year has been exciting for Hunter Glass with new faces joining the team and plenty of opportunities for growth as well as improving what we can offer our community.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the last 12 months - whether you’ve visited the showroom, trusted us with your home, recommended us to a friend, or simply stopped in for a chat.

Would you like to physically feel the difference double glazing makes to your home?

Well… you can.

Our showroom has a pretty cool (well, actually hot) heat lamp demo box that shows just how much heat escapes through your windows in winter as well as how much warmth is creeping into your home during the summer!

Put one hand on single and the other on double glazing and experience the difference yourself. You can even take it one step further and compare standard and Low E double glazing!

It’s a real eye‑opener, and a great way to understand how better insulated windows can retain the heat in your home significantly.

Talk about hard yakka! 😮‍💨

Last week, Grant- owner and glazier, headed off on quite the mission: a two‑hour hike up to the Lockwood Shelter at Temple Basin Ski area.

He stayed overnight to install 40 double‑glazed units into the newly renovated hut. The glass was flown in by helicopter and left to acclimatise before install. - Not your average job!

“Everything was really well organised and there was a great bunch of guys up there. I went up with a bucket of tools and an overnight pack… and learnt I’m not quite as fit as I thought I was.” - Grant

We are stoked to have had the opportunity to work with Huts and Tracks – Home of the Backcountry Trust on this awesome project!
