A splashback with a story behind it!

This one's a little special to us! We recently had the pleasure of creating this custom digitally printed glass splashback, featuring a design created by the customer herself.

The artwork features Kokopelli, a figure associated with music, fertility and folklore in Indigenous cultures of the American Southwest. Set against those beautiful sunset colours, we think it's a pretty cool way to bring some personality into a space!

And here's the funny little connection… both Grant and Lucy (Hunter) have Kokopelli tattoos! What are the chances?

It's always neat seeing the different ideas and personal touches people bring to their glass projects, and this one was definitely a little closer to home for us.

Two kitchens, two splashbacks ... and two very different final looks!

This week, our team has installed two polar opposite splashbacks.

🤍The first was for a private client. They wanted something that gave their neutral and clean kitchen a polished finishing touch. The lighting under the cabinetry warms the white glass and pairs well with the natural looking timber cupboards. We love the calm it brings to this kitchen. - Colour: Resene Designer White

❤️The second splashback was for a commercial client. We love the bold red, it is outstanding colour choice that has become an eye-catching feature to this kitchen. - Colour: Resene Wizz Bang

SPCA Cupcake Day 🎂

Hi everyone! Hunter Glass is participating in this year’s SPCA Cupcake Day, and we need your help!

This is an event to fundraise for the SPCA. We will be selling homemade cupcakes in our HQ on Wednesday 16th September. These will be a gold coin donation or however much you are willing to donate.

For the week 14th-19th September, Hunter Glass will donate 100% of its pet door profits to SPCA.

SPCA helps thousands of animals every year to provide shelter, food and care. We want to do our part to support such a wonderful cause!

A little bit of a full-circle moment for us!

We recently had the pleasure of installing four digital print splashbacks at Sheffield Primary School, featuring the school’s PEAK values - Possibility, Excellence, Accountability & Kindness. 🌈

And this one was a little extra special for our family, with both Hunter children having spent their primary school years at Sheffield School. It’s pretty cool to come back years later and see a little piece of Hunter Glass in a place that holds so many childhood memories! 💛

The splashbacks have certainly caught the students’ attention, too and we were delighted to receive this lovely feedback from the school principal:

“Hunter Glass, You’ve officially achieved legendary status at Sheffield School! The PEAK values splashbacks look absolutely incredible, and it’s no exaggeration to say they’ve been the talk of the classrooms for days.

💛 Daffodil Day 💛

It’s Daffodil Day, so we’ve added a little splash of yellow to the Hunter Glass showroom!

Our team put together a wee window display to show our support for the Cancer Society and the amazing work they do for people affected by cancer across New Zealand.

We’ve also got a donation box sitting in the showroom, so if you’re passing through Ross Street and would like to chuck a few dollars in, we’d really appreciate it. Every little bit helps.

Black Beauty with a touch of Brass

This shower is a great example of how mixing different metal finishes can add a bit more depth and personality to a space, without giving it a busy feel.

The lights are on again at Hunter Glass 💡

Over the past five weeks, many of you may have noticed our showroom looking a little dark.

The Hunter family has been overseas visiting family, and because our entire office team is related, we couldn't exactly leave one of us behind!

Armed with three laptops and plenty of good intentions, we worked remotely while our awesome glazing team Jason & Steve kept things running on the ground here at home.

A huge thank you to everyone who understood when the showroom was operating by appointment only.

We're now home, the lights are on, the coffee's brewing, and our normal opening hours have resumed.
