Metalon is based in Dunedin, New Zealand, servicing mostly the wider Otago region. It is a family owned and run business with a 50 year trading history. Operating from a centrally located factory and showroom, Metalon also have mobile sales representatives that can visit clients at their premises. We also respect the environment with an active waste minimization. We also recycle our packaging and offer many eco-friendly fabrics utilising recycled plastic feedstock. As many of our products are made on site they travel a shorter distance to reach our clients requiring less transport and as they are so well built they last longer, offering greater value to our customers and creating a smaller environmental footprint. Please feel free to visit our showroom and browse our wide range of products at 97 Harrow Street, Dunedi

The office that felt fine in winter might need a rethink in spring.

As businesses plan for the new year, now is a good time to consider whether your space is still working as hard and cost-effectively as you need it to.

At Metalon, we help businesses make their spaces work better, with office furniture, storage, acoustic solutions, refurbishment and custom-made options.

Sometimes the answer isn’t a complete overhaul.

It might be adapting what you already have, adding something custom, improving storage, or creating a piece that finally solves a problem.

If you’re thinking about changes for 2027, its a great time to reach out!

October is a good month to start planning...

Not because Christmas is around the corner, but because if your workspace, retail space, hospitality area or commercial fit-out needs a refresh, December is usually the wrong time to start thinking about it.

The best projects start with a friendly conversation and some planning.

At Metalon, we can help with custom furniture, fabrication, refurbishment and practical solutions designed around your space.

The finished piece is what you see. Behind it are the conversations, decisions, problem-solving and attention to detail that get it there.

We’ve recently wrapped up projects for clients across Dunedin, and there’s something satisfying about seeing a brief go from an idea to something practical, quality-made and ready to be used.

Whether it’s custom fabrication, furniture, refurbishment or a complete solution, we believe the details matter as much as the relationship.

We have proudly completed a project at the University of Otago Clocktower.
The Clocktower is so iconic and plays such a special part of Ōtepoti.

We're grateful for the opportunity to work here and be on campus, especially at this time of year!

Colour isn’t just about making a space look good. The colours around us can influence how a space feels, from creating a sense of calm and focus to bringing energy and creativity.

That’s why choosing colours is worth considering alongside the practical side of a work or community space. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

At Metalon, we can help bring those details together, from furniture and upholstery to custom finishes and complete workspace solutions.

Nichol’s Garden Café has had a beautiful refresh, and we’re proud to have played a small part!

Our team crafted the chairs with custom stain and upholstery, and the timber tables with steel bases. Booths add a finishing touch in line with the Café’s natural aesthetic.

It’s always a privilege to work within community spaces!

Did you know you could spend more than 1,700 hours a year at your desk?

That’s a lot of time at the same desk, in the same chair and working in the same space. Which makes the little things matter.

At Metalon, we’re all about creating workspaces that support the people using them, from ergonomic desks and chairs to complete office fit-outs and custom solutions.

Make those hours comfortable. Make them count.

Libraries are no longer just rows of bookshelves and quiet reading tables; they’re places to learn, meet, create, collaborate, work and connect.

That means the furniture has to work harder too.
Flexible tables, comfortable soft seating, stools, study spaces, and furniture that can be moved or reconfigured all help create spaces that adapt to different people and activities throughout the day.

We’ve had the opportunity to be part of the recent South Dunedin Library fit-out alongside other great suppliers.

It’s a good reminder that great furniture isn’t just about filling a space. It’s about helping people use it.
