Tell us about everything you wish your parents had known about disability!
Disability Responsiveness New Zealand Ltd, in association with Fordwrite, want to hear from up to eight disabled people from a diverse range of impairments, ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, about what it was like for you as a Deaf or disabled person growing up in Aotearoa/New Zealand at any time in the past (be it recent past or way back when). This will be discussed as part of a two-hour hui to be hosted by Chris Ford from Fordwrite, on Thursday, December 9 at 7pm. Chris is facilitating this initial stage of the project via Zoom.
As a thank you to all participants, we’ll send out $50 grocery vouchers as an acknowledgement of your valuable time and contribution.
All participant feedback will be anonymous and will form the basis of a new resource being developed by Disability Responsiveness New Zealand Ltd for parents and whanau of young disabled people, to positively highlight what a good life might look like for their disabled family member.
Essentially, we want participants in this zoom hui to tell us: ‘everything you wish your parents had known or been told about impairment and disability, before or right after you were born?’
So, if you wish to take part, please email [email protected] by no later than 5pm, Wednesday December 8th to let him know. If you require an NZ Sign Language interpreter, please also advise this in your email. Chris will then select the participants and send the Zoom code for the meeting to them by email.
