How I became a neuro nerd: by listening to Andrew Huberman who captured my attention in the midst of all the crazy of the pandemic, having been introduced to him and his dog Costello and his podcast by Dr Sarah McKay during my first Neuroscience Academy programme in early 2021. I listened to Huberman while taking long walks, and on many road trips through southern NZ frequently stopping my car to take notes. He explains the science in such an accessible way, gives out references, and practical tools (sigh - see article), and he genuinely does mean it when he says at the end of every podcast: "thank you for your interest in science". This always makes me feel all warm and pleased with myself, even though I've done bu**er all except listen.
