Quick one for BOOST owners. What matters more: the activation code or the ring?

The activation code is what unlocks variable load sizes, from a 50g sample to a 200g roast in 10g steps. The rings are just there to stop you spilling the beans.

Out of the box, your Nano 7 is tuned for 120g and assumes that’s what you’ve loaded. Once BOOST is activated, you tell it the load size and it scales your profile’s heat, fan and other settings to match.

Fit the rings without activating and nothing changes on the inside. Your profile still runs as if it’s roasting 120g, whatever’s actually in the chamber.

If your activation code is still sitting in the box, it’s worth digging out.

It's World Coffee Day. We'd like to see where you roast.

Post a photo of your roaster. Your kitchen bench, the espresso corner, a camping table, maybe the lab or shed out the back. Wherever it lives.

Our sales manager John stopped in at .cafe in Christchurch for what might be the most expensive cup in New Zealand: $99.99 of Mount Totumas Geisha from Panama.

The whole cherries are sealed in bags and submerged in the cold river water running through the farm, where they ferment slowly for days before weeks of careful drying. The cold keeps the fermentation slow and controlled, and the result is a remarkably clean cup.

Candied lemon, jasmine, golden kiwi, and a long grapefruit finish.

Owning something used to mean you could take it apart.

We have repair centres around the world. But boxing up a roaster and waiting is not everyone's idea of a good time. So we published the same guides our repair centres work from to .

We designed the Nano 7 to be easy for us to assemble and service. Our customers should get to benefit from that as well.

No warranty seal over the screws. No cloud subscriptions. The software is free, no account required.

Fix it yourself or send it to us. Either way, it's your roaster.

New boxes arrived this week with a fern on them.

A small change, but quite a good one.

The FernMark is the New Zealand government's official country of origin accreditation. Kaffelogic now carries it, licence No. 101255.

Last year we used a banana for scale. People still ask how big the roaster is, so this year we've got a puppy.

Eight years in business. First signage we've ever had.

The scaffolding came down at our new factory last week, which wraps up the renovation and means people can finally find us from the road.

You've seen bits of the new place already. The first Nano 7 built here. Chris taking the first break on the pool table. This is the part where it stops being a building site.

Nearly 900m² of space, insulated and heated throughout, with parking for twelve vehicles. After years tripping over each other at Castle Street, we've really spoiled ourselves.

We're proud of what we've built here, and grateful to every one of you who put a Nano 7 on your bench to get us this far. Thank you. ❤

We're open weekdays 8am to 4pm. Worth a visit if you're in Dunedin and keen for a look behind the curtain. The Nano 7 and accessories are for sale on-site, so you can see one running before you commit.
