Ever seen a balustrade change colour? 🌈

The team recently finished the glass balustrades at the new Torqos HQ here in Auckland, and this one was a lot of fun to be part of 🙌

The glass is finished with dichroic film, which gives it that rainbow, colour-shifting effect. Walk around the stairwell and the panels move from lime green to deep blue, purple and glowing orange - same glass, a completely different look from every angle

Underneath all that colour it’s toughened laminated SentryGlas, held in a Smartlock channel - so it’s every bit as solid as it is eye-catching

Photos barely do it justice! Which colour’s your favourite? Tell us in the comments 👇

Reeded glass, done right 🙌

The team recently installed these reeded glass shower screens in a beautiful residential bathroom 🛁

Reeded (or fluted) glass is one of the finishes we’re asked about most at the moment - and it’s easy to see why. You get privacy in the shower without walling it in, and the light still moves through the whole room ☀️

A little flashback for you. 🏆

Back in 2021, our glazing on ANZ Raranga at Sylvia Park won the Commercial under $100k category at the Window & Glass Association NZ Awards - and it’s still one of the projects the team is proudest of.

We installed more than 50 custom laminated reeded glass panels for the office partitions, along with the frameless glass balustrade on the feature staircase.

If you haven’t come across reeded glass before, it’s the ribbed texture you can see in the photos. It lets the light through while softening everything behind it, so meeting rooms feel private without feeling closed in. Add all that greenery and it’s a pretty lovely place to spend a workday. 🌿☀️

Five years on, we still love looking back on this one. 😊

Would you believe this is glass? 👀

We’ve just finished a custom printed glass splashback for a kitchen - blue marble with gold veining, running along the bench and around the corner.

Printed glass is a great option if you love the look of stone but not the upkeep. No grout lines, nothing to seal, and a quick wipe is all it needs . You can go with a solid colour, a pattern or a full image, so it’s a real chance to put a bit of personality into the kitchen.

We love how this one turned out… what do you reckon? 👇

Stairs with a view ✨

The team recently finished the frameless glass balustrade on this feature staircase and upper-floor in a new commercial building

A good glass balustrade should feel like it’s barely there. But it’s a safety barrier first, so every panel is made and fixed to meet the same requirements as any other balustrade - it just doesn’t look like it’s working that hard

Our favourite part? That afternoon light pouring straight through the glass and casting the whole balustrade across the floor ☀️

Not finished yet - and that's the point. 🚧

Here's a peek at the in-between stage on some of the commercial fit-outs we've been working on. The glass partitions and doors are in, the tape's still on, and there's still plenty of dust around - but you can already see how the glass opens these spaces up and lets the light through.

We'll be back with the finished result soon. Watch this space!

Two jobs, two very different views. 🌊

First up, Muriwai, a frameless glass balustrade on a clifftop deck, on one of the most exposed stretches of the west coast. The glass carries right around the corner, so the view runs unbroken from one end of the deck to the other.

Then Rotorua, a rural build where the deck runs out toward the pond - frameless glass the full length of the edge and around the step run, sitting flush with the decking so the line stays clean the whole way round.

Same detail, opposite ends of the weather map

There isn't a single piece of curved glass in this shopfront. 👀

We’ve finished the glazing on a new retail store - curved frameless shopfront glass and frameless glass entry doors, following the radius of the tenancy right around the corner.

Curved shopfronts are one of the trickier jobs in our line of work. Every panel is measured, made and installed so the curve reads as a single sweep rather than a run of flat sections, and with a frameless system there’s no frame to hide behind. The joints, the floor line and the door alignment all have to be right first time. 🔧

Plenty of patience, a very careful set, and a result the team is pretty proud of.

A retail shopfront has to survive a lot - trolleys, foot traffic, opening and closing every day of the - and still look sharp under mall lighting. We supplied and installed the 15mm toughened frameless glass shopfront for the new Elite Supplements store, including the glass return along the walkway.

A recent bathroom we're pretty happy with - a frameless box shower, supplied and installed by us. Clear glass on the side you want to see through, reeded glass on the return for the bit of privacy every shared bathroom needs. You can work out why 😆

Every panel is made to measure and toughened, so it fits the space exactly. Planning a bathroom reno? Get in touch and we'll talk you through the options.
