CLOSED Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day & Good Friday Mt Rosa Vineyard was originally the ram paddock for the 80,000 hectare Kawarau Station. In 2000 we sent the sheep off to greener pastures, planted some vines and began our new story in wine. Now a well-established vineyard, Mt Rosa is still proudly family owned and operated, and produces award-winning wines for

everyone to enjoy! We're pretty proud of our little patch and the wines we produce. We'd love to share them with you and your friends - come and visit us in Gibbston at our Cellar Door and experience the hospitality we're known for.

🍷 International Pinot Noir Day | Tomorrow, 18 August

If there’s one day we’re particularly happy to celebrate here in Gibbston, it’s this one!

Pinot Noir is at the heart of what we do at Mt Rosa, grown right here in one of the most exciting Pinot Noir regions in the world.

And this year, we’ve got a few different bottles to tell the story…

Four bottles. Three vintages. One vineyard.

From our 2020 Pinot Noir and Reserve, through to the 2021, and a little glimpse into the future with our 2024 Clone Unknown.

Different seasons, different vintages and different expressions of Pinot Noir, all grown right here in Gibbston.

Pinot has been part of the Mt Rosa story for many years, and as the new custodians of this special little corner of Central Otago, we feel incredibly lucky to be carrying that story forward.

Here’s to the grape that Central Otago does rather well. 🍇🍷🇳🇿❤️

Happy International Pinot Noir Day from Gibbston. ❤️

Something exciting is brewing at MT Rosa… ☕️

We’re delighted to be working with Wes and the brilliant team at Ryder Coffee, a fantastic local company. We love coffee almost as much as we love wine, so we can’t wait to have a Ryder Coffee machine in the Cellar Door very soon — followed by another in the Bakehouse when it opens.

Great local coffee, great local wine and an exciting partnership ahead. ☕️🍷

You don’t need to be a wine expert. We can teach you about Mt Rosa, our wines and the stories behind them. What matters most is that you’re friendly, dependable, keen to learn and naturally enjoy looking after people.

What you’ll be doing

* Welcoming guests to Mt Rosa
* Hosting relaxed and engaging wine tastings
* Sharing the story of our vineyard and wines
* Helping guests choose wines they’ll enjoy
* Serving food, platters and other drinks
* Taking bookings and processing sales
* Assisting with private functions, events and occasional evening service
* Helping keep the cellar door clean, organised and beautifully presented

* Reliability, initiative and attention to detail
* The ability to remain calm and welcoming when we’re busy
* Availability to work weekends and occasional evenings
* Your own reliable transport due to our Gibbston location

Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, retail or wine would be helpful, but we’re happy to consider applicants with different levels of experience. Enthusiasm, personality and the right attitude are just as important to us.

What we offer

* A minimum of 30 hours per week
* Predominantly daytime hours, with the cellar door generally open from 11am–5pm
* An hourly rate based on your skills and experience
* Full training on Mt Rosa and our wines
* The opportunity to learn, develop and grow with the business
* A friendly, family-run workplace in a beautiful Gibbston setting

It’s an exciting time to join Mt Rosa as we continue to develop our cellar door, wine club, events and wider hospitality offering.

We’re hiring! 🍷

We’re looking for a new General Manager to join the Mt Rosa team and help shape the next chapter of our growing family business.

It’s an exciting time at Mt Rosa. We’re expanding the site with a new Bakehouse, due to open later this year, alongside a purpose-built space from which Kiwi Journeys will operate. We’re also looking to grow our wine club, trade sales and events offering.

We’re looking for a warm, capable and enthusiastic person to oversee the hospitality, retail and trade sides of the business and work collaboratively with us as Mt Rosa continues to grow.

The role will not include responsibility for vineyard operations or winemaking. The vineyard will continue to be looked after by Greg and Gary, our viticulturist, while our wines are made by our dedicated winemaking team.

We welcome applications from experienced managers, as well as supervisors, duty managers and assistant managers who feel ready to take the next step.

Hope he is back home soon!

We appreciate a lot of people are invested in the search for our boy and we cant thank you enough for your care, support and suggestions.

Below is just a bit of information so that you can be assured we are doing everything we can to bring our boy home:

✔️ We HAVE spoken with Don the tracker.
✔️On the day he went missing we had our jetboat scouring the river for him, and on days since.
✔️ We have commercial Jetboat companies looking out for him on every trip - thank you Thunder Jet.
✔️ We had a thermal drone up for 3-4 hours.
✔️ We have our items of clothing at the last known place - we go back morning and night, to sit and wait.
✔️ We thermal camera the area daily.
✔️ We had a helicopter up to sour the river all the way to the Nevis Bluff and all over the potential areas he could be - thank you Lisa and Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters.
✔️ We have the local property owners keeping an eye out.
✔️ We have clothing items the whole way along the track he might be on to help him find his way home.
✔️ We have the whole community keeping an eye out for him and actively looking and listening.
✔️ We search the immediate areas every day.
✔️ We have now offered a $5000 reward for his safe return.

We are aware that he is likely scared and feeling alone after so many days away from his family. But for those not familiar with the area, while he was lost in a rather remote dense piece of bush - in every direction are densely populated areas so if calling him is pushing him away from the immediate area - he will find Hoomans and help quicker.

While it is not in his nature to hurt another animal, for any surrounding property owners, if he has done wrong while trying to keep himself alive, we will put this right. Please just let him come home.

Please keep Obi in your thoughts and keep sending prayers he will be brought home safe and sound.

Not many cellar doors pour beautifully bottle-aged Pinot Noir every day. We do 🍷❤️

One of the things that excited Sophie and me most about becoming the custodians of Mt Rosa was the opportunity to share beautifully bottle-aged Pinot Noir with our guests.

At the moment we’re proud to pour our 2020 Pinot Noir, 2021 Pinot Noir, and our 2020 Reserve Pinot Noir, giving you the chance to experience these wines as they’ve evolved with time.

Expect greater complexity, rounded tannins, and the savoury elegance that only bottle age can bring.

If you’ve only ever tasted young Pinot Noir, we’d love to show you what a few extra years in the bottle can do. We think you’ll taste the difference. 🍷❤️
