Wonderful to be able to host so many beautiful kaupapa! Oro has been a kupu that has been featuring regularly lately and with our Mauri Tau room and Karaoke room in build phase at the moment it’s so fitting that the whare calls to more kaupapa in this form.

Tūranganui-a-Kiwa/Gisborne, our next Wānanga Taonga pūoro is in your rohe!

Join James, Rikki and Hemi to learn about taonga pūoro. Whether you are new to the kaupapa or an enthusiast wanting to learn more, come spend the weekend with us in oro.

Spaces are limited, please complete the form to register, https://forms.gle/k5w75aTsnSG3bzey7

Enjoy the week everybody ~ quite a few of our Tāiki e! Whānau will be away this week making our way down to Otautahi to connect with Whānau down there 🙂 looking forward to having our soil doctor and our scientist back in the fold of the Whānau too Jacopo Orazi Jordon Lima we’ve missed you both, immensely 🥰

Watching all the Whānau competing and representing us all over in Singapore has been a treat! Huge mihi to the Taioro news crew who have been on the ground over there, sharing the excitement and experience with us all back home 💛 Congratulations to all the waka ama Whānau, we see you training and inspiring our community to look after our hauora, connect with our Taiao and encourage each other to be one big happy Whānau!

MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) our little beta testers couldn’t get enough of the Toia Mai Te Reo Waka! The shyness disappeared quickly once there were goals and a race to be had ~ no one liked to see the lights turning off once te reo Māori had lit them all up 💖 Looking forward to coming up to Auckland with you all and installing the waka, ready to go for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

We spent a bit of time with Toihoukura - School of Maori Visual Art & Design coming through Treble Court this week. Really enjoyed the korero, questions and potential of future collabs. Quite a few of our Tāiki e Next Gen are now also Toihoukura tauira - they led the way and shared what the aroha economy is and how the Tāiki e! Whare and Whānau works, toured their tira through all the spaces including the emerging Karaoke Room💖
What a fabulous week in the whare, it’s been flowing and will continue to do so for a while yet :)

Te Waiotu Marino Fairlie gave a fabulous Lightning Talk on Wednesday on her surfing journey that now sees her in the surf NZ team heading to El Salvador in October :) it’s gonna take quite a bit of fundraising to get her there. Here is a snapshot of a creative evening fundraiser recently held in the whare in support of this kaupapa 💖
It was an amazing and fun event! Teah Carlson, Karmz and the Whānau put on the best night!
