👏 Taheke Geothermal Project referred for fast tracking 👏

Eastland Generation and The Proprietors of Taheke 8C & Adjoining Blocks Incorporation (Taheke 8C) have reached a major milestone with the Taheke Geothermal Project, after the Minister for the Environment accepted the project’s resource consent application under the COVID-19 Recovery Fast Track Consenting provisions. The application will now be referred to an expert panel to consider.

The Taheke Geothermal Project is a partnership between Eastland Generation and the land owners, Taheke 8C, and seeks to develop and operate a 35MW geothermal power station located inland from the northern end of Lake Rotoiti.

Today we are excited to announce a strategic capital raise for Eastland Generation to help fund the expansion of their renewable generation portfolio. We intend to raise funds by offering a 50 percent ownership stake, inviting potential investors to explore this rare opportunity.
🔹 A key driver of the capital raise is to use the funds, in part, for the development of TOPP2, a 49MW geothermal power station in Kawerau. This plant is twice the size of TOPP1 and Te Ahi o Maui.
🔹 This is a unique opportunity to invest in a renewable energy business that has existing assets already generating strong cash flows, a fully formed operational and development capability, and a solid growth path.
🔹 With the support and strategic expertise of a new partner, we can accelerate our pipeline of renewable energy projects, expand our operational capacity, and advance innovation in the industry.

It’s a big day at the port and in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa today with a cruise ship making a surprise visit and, the Albatros dredge is meant to make an apprearance too!

Eastland Group and Firstgas Group are pleased to confirm Overseas Investment Office (OIO) approval for the acquisition of Eastland Network. The transaction will be completed on 31 March 2023.

From 31st March, Eastland Network will be proudly known as Firstlight Network. We’ll also have a new owner: Firstgas Group.

While our ownership is changing, it's business as usual for us. You can still rely on the same dedicated service from the same local Network teams and contractors, as we work to keep the lights on across Tairāwhiti and Wairoa.

Eastland Group and shareholder Trust Tairāwhiti have announced the sale of Eastland Network to Firstgas Group, owned by Igneo Infrastructure Partners, for $260 million. “Firstgas has significant expertise in managing regulated utilities, and is supported by its shareholder Igneo, an experienced infrastructure operator. Under Firstgas ownership, the day-to-day operations will remain based in Tairāwhiti, retaining local staff, contractors and expertise.
