Sarah is an absolute early bird—she has no problem kicking off her day as early as 4:30 AM to ensure she is onsite and ready at a time that works best for our clients. Since joining the WorkAble family earlier this year, her dedication and positive energy have made her an incredible asset to our team.

When she's not on-site, Sarah keeps busy juggling a love for various sports, soaking up the Gisborne sun, and being a proud mum to her two sons.

Who are the people behind WorkAble Occupational Health?

Over the next few weeks, we’re excited to introduce you to the team that makes WorkAble what it is. To start, here’s a little about me — Tessa Allan, Director and Founder of WorkAble.

I started WorkAble in 2019 after seeing a real need in the Gisborne region for practical, people‑focused workplace health services. What began as just me has grown into a team of 12 amazing clinicians and support staff across the North Island.

This year has been a big milestone for us — after expanding into Hawkes Bay last year, we now have certified drug testers in Waikato, Rotorua, Manawatū and Wellington, allowing us to support even more workplaces with fast, reliable onsite testing.

On a personal note, I’m married to Kurt, and we have three kids — Charlie, Oscar and Daisy. They’re a huge part of why I’m passionate about building safer, healthier workplaces for our communities. I’m incredibly proud of how far WorkAble has come and the team behind it.

I can’t wait to introduce you to the rest of the crew over the coming weeks.

Respirator Fit Testing in NZ — What Standard Do We Follow

In New Zealand, respirator fit testing is carried out under AS/NZS 1715:2009 – Selection, Use and Maintenance of Respiratory Protective Equipment.

Under this standard, anyone using tight‑fitting respirators must have:

* Annual fit testing

* Fit testing when changing mask model or size

* Re‑testing after significant facial changes
