Well, 2024 is history, now we can look at 2025. What of a year is it going to be?

Thinking positively, 2025 is going to be a really great year. Plenty of opportunities to grow those small businesses.

I am feeling good about this, what about you?

2024 has been a tough time for several industries, especially the Automotive Trade. I have seen several premises with fewer cars waiting for servicing & repairs than in the past.

Now, would be a good time to look at your business and develop a few strategies to help. Call now for a chat.

Who are your Customers?

Do you really know what your customers want?

The majority of garages say 'YES' to any job that comes through the door! Is this the best way to conduct your business?

What are you good at? What are you not so good at? We see workshops that specialise in specific areas of repair; such as transmissions, auto electrical, tyres and wheel alignments, etc.

Somethings to consider when the balance sheet looks gloomy

How efficient/productive is your workshop?
Have you ever stopped to look at what goes on day to day with your technicians?
Sure, they turn up for work in the morning and get stuck in and get that list of cars on the booking diary started, repaired, and back to the owner. But are they efficient? How are you measuring this?
Your techs will be paid for their shift, but do you, the owner get a return on that pay packet you have given them?
How much downtime do your techs encounter daily that is eating into your profits?
Consider:
• Using cell phones and smoke breaks
• Is the right skill level tech working on the right skill level job?
• Are techs being pulled off jobs without completing them?
• Are techs waiting around for parts, or OK’s to continue repairs
• Are techs waiting around for instructions on what to do next?
As the owner of the business you need to keep on top of this. By using some simple processes and procedures you can hold your techs accountable for their own productivity and efficiencies.
Your customers want a good job done for a fair price; you the owner want to supply that customer with a job done well for a charge that makes you a good profit, and your techs want to be paid according to their abilities. If one of these 3 are not met there is a problem! Lost customer, disconnected tech, the workshop loses money.
