Tomorrow NZ celebrates Matariki with a public holiday

Matariki has arrived, with a public holiday this Friday to celebrate.

For many Māori, the reappearance of the Matariki star cluster signals te Mātahi o te Tau, the Māori New Year.

This Friday marks the second year Matariki has been a public holiday in Aotearoa.

👉 Here’s what you need to know about this time of reflection, celebration and preparation: https://www.1news.co.nz/2023/07/11/matariki-rangi-matamua-with-all-you-need-to-know/?utm_campaign=organic-facebook

- New Skilled Migrant Category Residence visa - new points system
- Changes to Accredited Employer Work Visa - maximum 5 year stay if not on a pathway to residence
- Upgrade of UK Working Holiday Scheme - age extended to 35
However, please note that our LIA will be taking extended leave and will no longer be doing consultations or taking new clients personally. Pleased to share another happy client testimony for a work visa and dependent child (older student with working rights):
"I am delighted to share my experience with NZ visa advocates Ltd and their incredible visa consultant Harini Gunawardene. I first applied through her for a Critical Purpose Visa from Sri Lanka and then needed to switch to an accredited employer work visa, and also needed to secure a student visa with working rights for my son.

We are pleased to tell that Harini Gunawardene did an enormous job for us by guiding us through the entire process step-by-step. Her expertise and knowledge of the visa system were evident, as she made the transition for us seamless and stress-free. Throughout the entire process, she kept us informed of every detail, answered all our questions promptly (including out of work hours) and ensured that everything was in order.
It was an added bonus that she gave us a reasonable fees and payment structure so we could pay in a way that suited us best.

I highly recommend NZ Visa Advocates Ltd as a trusted institute for visa consultations. They have done a marvelous job for me and my son, and we are grateful for the services provided by Harini. Thank you for your outstanding work, and we wish you all the best for the future!" - Niranjala

Did you know... they are changing the NZ partnership work visa criteria. While currently partners of most work visa holders are eligible for an open work visa, after 31st May (just over 3 weeks away) many partner applicants will only be able to work for accredited employers or get visitor rights only. (There are some exceptions eg Green List visas). If you have/are an eligible partner of a work visa holder/applicant and want to apply for a work visa this month, get in touch now. Our fees are competitive and we work with people anywhere in the world.

Hi everyone and welcome to our new followers. Sorry we have been quiet on here. We have had a few changes this year, including physical relocation, although our virtual presence remains the same.
We are a small and relatively new business and are pleased to say we have practically a 100% success rate so far, with the only declines being dependants of a visa applicant who was declined who applied without us. We subsequently successfully got the main applicant a visa and are reapplying for those dependants.
We thank our clients and agent for their support.
We are closing temporarily in a few months but happy to take new clients until then. If you have any short term applications, eg work visas, or would like a (paid Zoom) consultation please get in touch!

As you may have heard, there have been a number of new changes to NZ immigration rules announced, including:

- Additional roles on the Green List (see INZ for details)
- 12-month extension of Employer accreditation for employers who have applied or will apply before 4 July 2023
- Granting Post Study Work Visas for people affected by border closure
- Specific Purpose Work Visas for Critical Purpose Visitor Visa
holders
There is also a pathway to residence for careworkers, including those in aged care.

It's too much to explain here and we will not be taking general enquiries. However, if you fit into one of the categories of post-study work visa holder (before Covid) or Critical Purpose Health Worker (visa holder) and would like a consultation, please get in touch.

Very pleased to share this from a happy client who got his partnership work visa in less than 3 weeks, from overseas!
"My wife and I were ecstatic when we heard the good news. I received my partner work Visa in just 18 days after the submission and honestly, we never expected it to be this soon. A BIG thank you to Mrs. Harini from NZ Visa Advocates Ltd. for her assistance with my Visa application. She was very professional, friendly and always responded promptly to all the questions and concerns I had throughout. I would strongly recommend the agency for any service of Visa assistance as they are truly knowledgeable and skilled. We really appreciate everything you've done, and I wish all of you more strength and power to guide and as sist clients like us to reach their dreams. Thank you very much! 😊 "

The Parent Category is reopening and changing after being closed since 2016!
New Zealand residents and citizens who have lodged expressions of interest for the Parent Category of Residence will be pleased to hear that selections of existing Expressions of Interest will resume from 14 November.
Changes to the policy include a lower sponsor income threshold and allowing two children to combine their income.
New applicants however may only be selected in Aug 2023 so there is no rush to start new applications now.

Great news for chefs without formal qualifications. On 18 October, INZ are removing the current requirement for chefs to have an NZQA Level 4 qualification with the requirements of a New Zealand Certificate of Cookery (Level 4) or equivalent qualification to be granted a work visa as a chef. This should give wider opportunities for those with work experience but no formal qualification to get work visas under the new Accredited Employer Work Visa category. However the offer will still need to pay market salary, and meet certain criteria to be determined suitably skilled.
