We have been notified of a number of instances where waterblasting was carried out on roofs containing asbestos.
In a recent incident, a residential property with decramastic roof tiles was waterblasted. Debris was found throughout the property and inside the home. Testing confirmed the roof tiles contained chrysotile asbestos, contaminating both indoor and outdoor areas.
This incident highlights the importance of identifying whether asbestos-containing materials may be present before starting work, particularly on older buildings.
