We’re off to AgFest later this week! 🐄

Come and find the CRV team at Site L in the Sandvik Pavilion. Chari, Pete, Emma and Lynda will be there and keen for a chat, whether it’s about your breeding plans for the season ahead, genetics, or just to say hello.

See you there!

Recording health events in myHERD just got easier 🐄

This season we’ve updated myHERD, so health reporting is simpler with no extra work for you.

Last week Tania Lamont and Deborah Adair-Dagg visited Alice Rowse in Waimate, plus Simon McAtee and Alison Dagg in Papakaio, to show how quick it is to enter and check health updates.

Our Grass-Fed Genetics Manager Peter van Elkakker caught up with Andy Thompson from@nzcountrywide Connect this week to talk about why more farmers are using beef genetics over dairy cows, and why choosing the right sire involves more than calving ease. The calf’s growth and what happens to it beyond the farm matter too.

Tune in here

Beef-on-dairy genetics have climbed towards 15% of CRV's dairy sales, up from 8% in 2021, with stronger beef prices reshaping mating decisions.

Have you ordered sexed semen straws this year? ♀🐄

To get the best results from frozen sexed semen make sure you select the right cows at the right time.

☑ Did she calve in the first three weeks?
☑ Has she cycled more than once?
☑ Is she a young cow?
☑ Has she got optimal body condition?
