Recently, while travelling to Kirikiriroa Hamilton, our CE had the opportunity to visit Fautasi Pacific Retail and Freight and meet with Theresa Alaimoana and her family.

It was great to learn more about her journey and the work they are doing to support Pacific communities through both their retail business and Wellthwise Pasifika Ltd, which focuses on culturally grounded pathways towards homeownership, business growth, and long-term financial wellbeing for Pacific families.

As part of our talanoa, we were pleased to connect Theresa with Mandy Siitia-Momoisea from Pacific Settlement Support Services, helping strengthen support and guidance available for newcomer Pacific families settling in Kirikiriroa.

These conversations are a reminder of the many Pacific leaders and businesses quietly making a difference in their communities every day.

🌺Rest. Restore. Reset

Wealth. Wisdom. Wellbeing.

It’s all connected.

We can’t build wealth if we’re burnt out.
We can’t make wise decisions if we’re overwhelmed.
And we can’t move forward if we’ve never allowed ourselves to rest.

The exhausted parent/s, the stressed out business owner, the grind is real, but so is the need to take a breather & slow down.

Lately, I’ve been reminded how important it is to rest — to actually pause and allow God to restore and reset.

Because when we’re constantly running, we start living in survival mode instead of building and planning for today and tomorrow with intention.

But God doesn’t call us to live rushed.

“He restores my soul.” - Psalm 23:3

To rest.
To reset.
To be restored.

Your future is built from a place of clarity and wisdom - not exhaustion.

🌺 Despite what the headlines are saying… here’s what I’m seeing.

If you look at the latest updates from HUD NZ, it’s clear:

Housing affordability is still a challenge.
The system is under pressure. That’s the reality.

But here’s the part that doesn’t always make the news, the part I see👇🏽

✨ Families are still enquiring
✨ Still learning the process
✨ Still moving toward homeownership

Not because conditions are perfect —
but because they’re choosing to prepare anyway.

💭 True story: I’ve been working 1-to-aiga with a number of families/whanau over the past few years… and families are now receiving pre-approvals 🙏🏽

Families that started with high debt , no structure & sadly did not believe homeownership was possible for them. This took time. Patience. Hard work.

That’s what people don’t always see.

It’s not just about income —
it’s about financial capability, discipline, patience, and faith.

It’s about READINESS, trusting the plan and process.

Step by step, our families positioned themselves for the opportunity, and when the opportunity came — they were READY.

At Wellthwise, we focus on helping families:

➡️ build financial capability and discipline
➡️ prepare and position our families despite the “noise”

🌺 Find your voice

Waikato Pasifika Toastmasters is here - learn public speaking & improve your communication skills in a culturally safe space..and have fun at the same time 🤩

Anything that supports the growth of our community , spiritually, financially, physically, mentally and in leadership- I am all for it.

In January this year, I reached out to Marlene Krone from Pacific Toastmasters Club Auckland to explore bringing something similar to Hamilton — not just for myself, but for our youth and wider community, to grow in confidence and speak with clarity.

Thank you to Marlene and Walter for your patience & continuous support, and setting up a branch here 🙏🏽

When we grow, we create space for others to rise too.

🌺 Parents - It’s here👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Financial literacy is now being taught in NZ schools, and for our Pasifika communities, this is a real breakthrough.

I wish this was here earlier when we were at school … but it’s here now, and this is what matters.

From 2026, our young people will learn real-life money skills early - budgeting, saving, understanding debt, and making informed financial decisions. 💰

This equips the next generation to be confident with money, make informed decisions, and build wealth over time 💴🏘️

It is more than just a subject in school - it’s part of the solution.

And when financial literacy is strengthened at home and in our communities, that’s where real, lasting change happens.
