Friendly little tip: maybe don’t go opening Pandora’s box on a whim 😅 you might lose yourself a bit in there. Get your ducks in a row first before going all guns blazing. Half the time we don’t even know the full story anyway… whenua be confusing like that 🤷🏽‍♀️

Te heke a Maruiwi
Toremi ki te reinga
I whakakopaia mai i Taraiti
I te maunga i te hū

Anei koe e whakamānawatia nei e te whānau Makitānara, inā hoki ko te kuia nāna koutou i whakapakeke mai nō taua whānau, i ahu mai i Te Tauihu o Te Waka a Māui. E maharatia nei koutou ko tō tuahine, a Hana Rose Meihana, tatu atu ki a Anaru Rangiheuea, he mea whāngai tahi koutou e te kuia rā, e Hana Rangiheuea, he Hiparaiti (hāwhe Makitānara) - tamāhine nā Te Ahu Hiparaiti rāua ko Rea Makitānara.

Ko ngā kōrero kua tīkina ake i runga ake nei he iti noa iho nō roto mai i te kōpua kānapanapa.

Tā Hīrini Moko Mead - he waha kī kua mū.

"Ko te moko o te kauae, ko te whero o ngā ngutu”.
Tā Tā Tātā

Tā shares that one of his pet peeves is when our wāhine choose to get their kauae done but don’t have their ngutu pūrua done at the same time.
What are your pet peeves?

We've been working together with Te Taiwhenua o Tamatea for some time now, delivering Tāmaua a Tamatea, a tailored suite of wānanga.

Register for our upcoming workshops - www.eventfinda.co.nz/tours-festivals/2026/kauwaka-roadshow or get in touch to see how we can create a custom wānanga for you.

We often hear from whānau, hapū, iwi, marae, kura, and organisations wanting a simple way to see what Kauwaka can bring when we come alongside them.

This was something we put together for the Pou Takawaenga Māori within the Fire and Emergency sector, who were looking for an overview of our different workshops, so we created this for them.

Tēnā rā koutou i te reo pōhiri.
