Please don't blow your fuse while charging your car!
We get asked a lot of questions about EVs (electric vehicles) and EV chargers, so here is Nic's take.

Not all EV chargers are created equal. The one you got from the car dealer when you purchased your EV should only be used in emergencies.

Please do your research and install a charger that is going to be efficient and use the correct amount of power to charge your car. We personally use and install Evnex chargers across Hawke's Bay.

If you want to pair it with solar - even better! Then you can use excess power to charge your car and make it even more cost effective!

If you want any more EV advice, call us on 0800 786 4787, or jump into the Contact Us page on our website (linked in bio).

Tesla have released a new way to connect the parts of your home power system - it's called Tesla Home.

Using the existing Tesla app, Tesla Home connects your solar panels, your Powerwall, and your Tesla charger and car if you've got them, and runs the lot as one system.
It comes built into every Powerwall. No extra gear, no extra cost, nothing else to install - which is perfect!

It predicts your energy needs, automatically adjusts your usage across your electric appliances and can help lower your electricity bills.

You can watch a quick video about explaining Tesla Home here: https://youtu.be/8aGMLbS3NAo?si=VU7GD1UQUEfRMFrO

If you've been mulling over solar, or thinking about adding a battery to panels you've already got, this is a good time for a look.
We are a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer, and have installed Powerwall units in homes right across Hawke's Bay.

During Winter & Autumn, every bit of available sunlight counts. Because sunlight equals power that you didn't have to buy from the grid!

Clean panels can help capture more of the limited daylight.

Check if your solar panels have:
🍂 any moss, pollen, salt spray, leaves, bird poo or dirt on them
🌳 any branches shading them

If you want a solar technician to check it for you, we offer a
SOLAR HEALTH CHECK
to identify:

☀️ Panels not producing at full capacity
🔧 Inverter or system performance issues
📊 Whether your system is generating what it should be
🍃 Dirt, moss, shading, or small problems that can affect output

Make sure your system is producing what it should.

Storm season is upon us, so here are some tips on how to prepare your solar to best support you during winter outages.

- A solar battery honestly changes the game. It can automatically keep essential circuits running during an outage:
✓ Internet - to stay connected
✓ Lights - to create calm at night
✓ Selected appliances - to keep your food stored safely in the fridge/freezer
✓ Rural water pumps and septic tanks - to keep the toilet flushing

- Did you know you can force charge your battery if you need it to be fully charged? Check out our recent post called 'Solar Batteries During Bad Weather' for how to do that.

Please don't wait for the next storm warning.
Find out how a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery can add resilience to your home.
