The season's off to a great start for KORU Apples!

The KORU® season has officially begun! We caught up with seasoned KORU® growers Simon Easton and Matt Easton from Wairepo to hear how NZ’s tastiest apple is shaping up for 2025.⁣

And the verdict?⁣

"This year’s crop is shaping up to be a good one! We have had a solid growing season with well-timed rain in Nelson helping the apples size up beautifully - bigger than last season (and just how key markets like Vietnam like them). The colour is coming early with some big first picks off most blocks . Fruit is looking fantastic and I expect packouts to be higher than normal. "⁣

Meet Petra!
Petra is the team lead and our office mastermind. With a background in finance and accounting plus ample experience in agricultural & horticultural industries she's an integral part of our team and the go-to person for us to bounce ideas off.
If you've ever emailed or called the Fern Ridge Fresh office then you've likely spoken to her and experienced her cheery can-do attitude first hand.
In her spare time you will find Petra walking her two dogs with her husband Duncan, or enjoying family time with her children & grandchild.

Favourite Fruit: Ironically Bananas (the one thing not grown in NZ!)

Tatsumi New Zealand Limited - Stunning Japanese strawberries grown right here in Hawke's Bay!
We are very fortunate to sell these incredible strawberries to the New Zealand domestic market. Tatsumi take an extraordinary amount of care growing these year round in their state of the art glasshouse. Each berry is closely examined to ensure perfection before leaving site, resulting in a delicious strawberry that's truly memorable.

Meet Kurt!
Kurt has been with Fern Ridge Fresh since 2017. Having grown up in an orcharding family, Kurt knows all about the produce industry. His role here is Export Sales Executive, and many of you will recognize him from various aspects of the industry - from orchard walks & packhouse visits though to conferences & market panel discussions.
In his free time you will find Kurt out running the dog with his Fiancé Lara, or tending to his native plant nursery ( ).

Markets: North America, Middle East, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Caribbean.

NZ Queen - This stunningly red apple is a well known favourite. She's sweet and juicy with crisp, white flesh. We might be biased but we think the best Queen in the world is grown right here in New Zealand.

Introducing Hamish!
Hamish is a Director of Fern Ridge Fresh and has been here since the beginning. Hamish has worked in the produce industry for more than 40 years, accumulating a huge amount of industry knowledge and experience.
In his free time you'll find Hamish working in his garden or relaxing on his boat on lake Taupo.

Hi, It's been a while!
As the 2024 pipfruit season starts ramping up, we thought it would be a good time to reintroduce ourselves.
Fern Ridge Fresh started exporting in 1997 and has been steadily growing as a business ever since.
Currently we have 6 staff members, who we'll reintroduce over the coming weeks. We work with growers and packers from all over New Zealand, and export their produce all over the world.
We also sell specialty products to New Zealand's local market including Japanese Strawberries & Japanese Table Grapes, Pears, Stone fruit, Truffles & Oyster Mushrooms.

Based out of Hastings, Hawke's Bay we're right in the heart of 'New Zealand's Fruit Bowl', so if you're ever in our area feel free to pop in for a chat and a coffee.
