Clear your calendar cause something's cooking at the cellar door this Labour Weekend, and it's not your average long weekend lunch...🔥👀

We've handed the grill over to a local legend, Mike Moloney from Silence of the Lambs, for four days, from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th October. Serving daily from the Trinity Hill Food Truck, 11:30am - 4pm, you’ll find some of Hawke’s Bay’s finest slow-roasted meats, smoky flavours, gourmet BBQ and street food with a fine-dining twist.

Throw in a glass (or two) of your favourite Trinity Hill w**e and live music from on Saturday and on Sunday, and you’re locked in for a pretty epic long weekend.

Our Tempranillo has long been a cellar favourite, and following its recent award-winning success, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on all the reasons we love it.

It’s one of those w**es that makes you close your eyes after the first sip, just to appreciate every last bit of its deliciousness. And when paired with something as good as a perfectly roasted lamb rack? Well, things only get better.

Serve it over buttery couscous with a bright, zingy salsa verde, and you’ve got yourself a glorious feast practically begging for a generous glass of red.

We couldn’t be prouder of our team, taking home three awards at last night’s Hawke’s Bay W**e Awards !!

First, a massive congratulations to Ben, Mike and our cellar door team, who were named Cellar Door of the Year. We’re incredibly proud of the exceptional service, knowledge and experience you offer our visitors, and this recognition couldn’t be more deserved. ❤️

In the w**e awards, our 2025 Gimblett Gravels Tempranillo received the trophy for Other Premium Red Varietals & Blends, while our soon-to-be-released 2024 Gimblett Gravels ‘The Gimblett’ received the trophy for Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Predominant Blends.

In case you missed the memo, it’s Cabernet Day…which for us is really just another day in the office. But who are we to turn down an excuse to crack open another bottle…👀

Especially when that bottle is our 2020 Single Vineyard Prison Block Cabernet Sauvignon and is served alongside 's Mushroom Cappelletti. 🤌🏼

Dark, youthful and seriously aromatic, this Cab is all ripe blackcurrant and cassis, with floral notes, liquorice, fresh cedar and a dusting of cocoa. In other words, a very good match for Emily’s rich, herb and mushroom-filled cappelletti.

Cabernet Day or not, we’d happily make an occasion of this one !!

Meet Ben, our new Hospitality & Cellar Door Manager 👋

Ben is no stranger to the world of w**e. Born in South Africa and raised amongst vineyards, his earliest memory of w**e from was a school trip to an historic w**ery in Constantia. Unfortunately, no tastings were involved, but the magic of w**e had already taken hold.

At 19, Ben moved to the UK where he secured a place on the Hotel du Vin graduate programme, marking the beginning of his career in w**e. Since then, he's worked as a sommelier and managed restaurants, w**e bars and retail stores. In 2021, he swapped London (mid-pandemic) for New Zealand and, after five years on Waiheke Island, we’re very lucky that he's now calling the heart of Hawke's Bay home!

Outside of the cellar door, you’ll find him trail running, swimming, behind the DJ decks spinning a mix of soul and disco, or planning his next Spanish adventure.

A Gimblett Gravels fan favourite is back !!

Introducing our 2025 Gimblett Gravels Tempranillo, a w**e that quietly earns a loyal following and sells out year after year.

Originally from Spain and famed as the signature grape of Rioja, Tempranillo has found a natural home in the warm, stony soils of Gimblett Gravels, producing a w**e with richness, generosity and effortless drinkability.

The 2025 vintage opens with vibrant raspberry and blackberry, layered with liquorice, sweet spice and dark chocolate. A palate packed with red and black fruits is framed by fine, cocoa powder-like tannins and bright acidity, creating a w**e that's succulent, beautifully textured and, just downright delicious!

If previous vintages are anything to go by, it won't be around for long. Shop online or visit us at the Cellar Door to secure your bottle.
