As we wrap up Te Ara Hōkai, we want to acknowledge and thank everyone who helped make this kaupapa possible.

A special thank you to the businesses and organisations who opened their doors, shared their time and knowledge, and created opportunities for our rangatahi to learn, grow and gain valuable workplace experience. Your support has played an important part in their journey.

A massive thank you to the team at Re-Source for opening your doors, supporting Tui, and creating such a positive workplace experience.

Tui is close to completing her placement with us, and what a terrific job she has done. She has worked with Shaun and Yudi on the van and never shirked from tackling heavy lifts or getting in her steps, backwards nd forwards. Tui has been punctual, hardworking and showed initiative, a pleasure to have on the team.
Helping increase access to the workforce is another meaningful way we can support the community and Tui showed how much a rangitahi can bring to a position. If all the participants are the same calibre as Tui, we can heartily recommend that other organisations consider making space for this programme.
We have no doubt Tui will be a real asset to her future workplace.

We are incredibly proud of Hunter and the commitment, effort and determination she has shown throughout our Te Ara Hōkai programme.

Hunter has achieved some fantastic milestones during her journey, successfully gaining her Learner Licence and securing paid employment.

A huge thank you to the team at Ka Pai Cuppa Waka 2023 for welcoming Hunter into the team and supporting her throughout her placement.

Congratulations Hunter. Your hard work, positive attitude and dedication have paid off, and we can't wait to see what comes next for you. Ka rawe!

As our first Te Ara Hōkai placements begin wrapping up this week, we've been reflecting on the incredible feedback we've received from rangatahi, whānau, employers, and partners.

Over the past eight weeks, we've seen rangatahi step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, develop new skills, and gain valuable workplace experience. Some of the feedback has been pretty special:
✨ "He came home excited and beaming."
✨ "She was amazing. Loved that she used her initiative and was so proud of her for coming out of her shell."
✨ "We would hire her in a heartbeat.
✨ "She has been given more responsibility and is thriving."
✨ “She's done placements before, but they've never been like this one."
✨ “Thank you again for everything you do for our kids”

To our host organisations, thank you for opening your doors, investing your time, and creating meaningful opportunities for our rangatahi.

To our whānau, kura, and partners, thank you for the support you've provided throughout the journey.

Most importantly, a huge mihi to our rangatahi. The growth we've seen over the past eight weeks has been incredible, and we're excited to see what comes next.

While we build our new space, we’re lucky to be co-existing within an awesome local business who celebrate wins with this gong, so we’ve adopted the tradition too.
Today, one of our job seekers received two job offers and accepted one 🙌

A huge thank you to the team at Maia Dreams for opening their doors to support Nevaeh through a Te Ara Hōkai work experience placement.
Over the next 8 weeks, Nevaeh will be building skills, gaining hands-on experience, and being part of a pretty awesome kaupapa!
This is a real full-circle moment for her, and we love to see it!

We’re super excited to welcome Nevaeh to our Maia Dreams tīma for the next 8 weeks 💖

A past student of Inspire In Education alongside Conrad Waitoa and ConfidentMe with our GM Kristyl Neho, Nevaeh is now joining us as a trainee facilitator, completing her Rangatahi work experience placement - Te Ara Hōkai - with JMP Consulting.

We’re thrilled to have Nevaeh’s performing arts experience to round out our roopu. Over the coming weeks, Nevaeh will support our Heretaunga Intermediate students with their preparations in 2 upcoming performance pieces - being a part of shared waiata at the Compassionate Communities hui in June and our end of year production, Whakapono.
