Effective communication comes in various styles and channels, and it’s essential to ensure that messages are delivered clearly and appropriately!

Team meetings play an important role in communication. Here are some tips for running an effective meeting:

• Ensure the right people are in the room, whether physically or virtually.

• Have a clear agenda, purpose, and minutes with actionable items.

• Keep the meeting restrained to time and make sure everyone understands their role.

• Create a comfortable environment where everyone feels free to speak up.

Incorporate ongoing development with a "5 minutes learning" segment:

• Rotate topics: the marketing team can talk about the latest trends in AI. Get finance on board to talk about working capital, etc.

• Share interesting books or podcasts with key takeaways.

• Discuss relevant issues, like the political climate, as long as it’s pertinent.

By using diverse communication styles and channels, we can ensure that important messages are understood and that everyone stays engaged and informed.

Do you have any communication hacks that work for you and your workplace?

I recently tuned into a podcast that left me reflecting on its insights long after it ended "The Game That Can Give You 10 Extra Years of Life" by Jane McGonigal. 🎙️

The key takeaway being: It’s not just about adding years to your life, but about adding life to your years.

It's an inspiring listen that dives into how gaming can teach us resilience, improve mental health, and even boost longevity.

What really struck me is how the principles she talks about - embracing challenges with a playful mindset, staying deeply connected with your team, and finding joy in the journey, are so applicable to leadership and workplace culture.

I highly recommend giving this podcast a listen, I would love to hear your feedback!

Technical skills can be taught with time and effort, but human attributes like empathy, patience, and effective communication are much harder to instil, especially in adults who are often set in their ways.

That's why an empathetic leader who prioritises self-care and the well-being of those around them has a significant advantage.

They can pick up technical skills more easily than trying to teach leadership qualities to someone who lacks the natural ability to connect with others.

True leadership is defined by these core qualities.

It's not just about knowing the job, it's about understanding people, fostering a supportive environment, and leading with a heart as well as a mind.

When you have empathy, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively, you’re not just managing a team - you’re inspiring one.

As a leader, do you prioritise technical skills or soft skills more in recruitment? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Success, no matter how small, deserves to be celebrated. In challenging times, it's more important than ever to recognise and appreciate the things that are going well.

Acknowledging good work - whether with a cake, a longer lunch break, or a simple early finish - doesn’t have to be personalised to be effective!

Public recognition goes a long way in making your team feel valued and productive. Remember, celebrating all levels of success is a vital part of our value set. Let's make sure every win is recognised!

When times are tough, we often need to make quick decisions. In an unpredictable market, it's better to take action than to stand still.

The "Fail Safe, Fail Fast" approach encourages us to make decisions quickly, learn from the outcomes, and pivot as needed.

In challenging times, it's easy to fall into impulsive decision-making. However, making informed choices, even under pressure, is essential. Embrace the element of strength within you.

Understand that some decisions will be risky and may not always be favourable, but they are necessary for progress.

Remember ⬇️

In these moments, remember it's better to be doing something than nothing at all.

The business environment may be unpredictable, but taking calculated risks and acting decisively can lead to unexpected opportunities.

Failing fast means we're not afraid of making mistakes, but we see them as learning opportunities.

It's about having the agility to change direction quickly, based on new insights and information. ℹ️

How do you approach decision-making in tough times?

That's the power of a workplace that truly cares for its people.

Prioritising wellbeing creates a positive ripple effect that benefits everyone.

Ready to make a difference? Start by encouraging open communication, promoting work-life balance, and recognising hard work. Provide support resources, foster a positive environment, and lead by example.

If you need some guidance on this, my messages are always open!

Recognising your team’s hard work doesn’t have to come with a big price tag!

In fact, some of the most impactful gestures are the simplest and most cost -effective.

Here are some of my top tips for low cost recognition. ⬇️

✔️ Personalised Notes: These don’t necessarily have to be handwritten, it can be showing your appreciation in an email or even on the team chat! It shows you took the time to recognise their efforts personally.

✔️ Shoutouts: Give public praise during team meetings or on your company’s social media. These are in instant mood booster!

✔️ Flexible Hours: Reward hard work with a chance to come in late or leave early. It’s a small gesture with a big impact.

✔️ Surprise Treats: Bring in some donuts, coffee, or snacks. Food is a universal love language!

Acknowledgement doesn’t have to be expensive to be effective.

Sometimes, the simplest gestures make the biggest difference. What are your go-to tips for team recognition? Drop them in the comments!

As we enter the second half of the year, it's crucial to revisit and refine our strategies.

Have you taken the time to reassess your approach for the upcoming months?

Being agile and ready to pivot is more important than ever.

💡 Are you strategy-ready?

💡 How are you performing against your goals?

💡Are you prepared to make the necessary changes to stay on track?

Conducting a SWOT analysis can help identify shifts in the business environment and prepare you for what's ahead.

Take the time to pinpoint the core meetings that need to happen before schedules get packed during the busy season.

Setting yourself up for the next six months is essential. With the market being slower, now is the ideal time to put in the work and ensure readiness!

Use this period to strengthen your plans, so you're ready to thrive as we emerge from this recession environment.

Remember, the work you do now will set the stage for success in the future. 🚀
