Budgeting and money can be forbidden topics for many people.

But not having a budget can cause stress and sleepless nights. “Financial literacy isn’t something we’re consciously taught – so people don’t know what to do when they’re faced with financial problems,”

“We talk to our clients about their goals, and why they’re here to see us. Together we then draw up a budget and negotiate with creditors for sustainable repayment plans.

“One client was at risk

of losing their house. They were behind on their rates and mortgage repayments and were told by their bank they’d have to sell it. We managed to help them work through their budget and negotiate a repayment plan with their bank. It meant everyone won in the end because they got to keep their home, and the bank was satisfied too”

We also run free budgeting courses within our community. If we can help talk about money and break down some of the taboos, then this will lead to increased confidence, peace of mind and knowledge to make more informed choices; and that will help build a stronger community.
