Another Hawke’s Bay school making the most of solar!

We’ve recently completed a solar installation at Dannevirke South School, with 45 solar panels installed on the roof of the school hall.

The 21.15kW system includes a 20kW Sungrow inverter and will help the school generate its own electricity during the day, reducing its reliance on the grid and helping keep electricity costs down.

Schools are particularly well suited to solar because much of their electricity use happens during daylight hours, when the panels are producing power.

It’s always great to see another school investing in renewable energy and making better use of its roof space ☀️

One of our more recent installs sits atop Havelock North's newest building, Quest Apartment Hotels at 7 Joll Road.

The new building brings quality accommodation right into the heart of Havelock North, with Wardini Books, Clothesline Collections Havelock North, Journey, and another retailer currently finishing its fit-out taking up the street spaces below.

Up top, we’ve put all that roof space to good use.

The Integrated Energy team installed 110 × 475W TW Solar panels, creating a 52kW solar system powered through a 50kW Sungrow inverter.

A decent system in the middle of Havelock North, generating cleaner, more affordable power from a roof that would otherwise be doing what roofs do - keeping out the weather!

How's this for a beast of an install!

A while back we installed 130 solar panels and a 50kW inverter for a customer. The system produces an estimated 72,802kWh of electricity each year, providing around 52% of the site’s annual electricity use.

That means more than half of the power that customer needs is now being generated on their roof, using space that was otherwise doing very little.

For commercial sites with large roof areas and solid daytime power use, solar makes a lot of sense. We can install the system with no upfront capital cost, then supply the business with cleaner, more affordable electricity.

If you’ve got a big roof, it could be doing more than keeping the rain out!

Today we've been at the first-ever Electrify Hawke's Bay Expo, and it’s been amazing.

There’s been a lot to like about seeing so many local businesses, organisations and people in one place talking about where our energy comes from and how we use it.

For Hawke’s Bay, shifting more of our energy to locally generated renewables isn’t just about cutting power bills or emissions. It’s also about building a more resilient region, with homes, businesses and communities better prepared when the grid is under pressure or the unexpected happens.

If you’re heading along this afternoon, come and find us at the Integrated Energy stand. We’re talking all things solar and how we can help businesses and schools make the switch with no upfront capital cost.

Another great local install from the archives

We installed 42 solar panels at Napier Old Boys' Marist Rugby, creating an 18.48kW system expected to generate around 25,500 kWh of electricity each year.

NOBM has been part of Hawke’s Bay sport since the merger of Marist and Napier Old Boys in 1990, bringing together two clubs with histories stretching back to the early 1900s. Today the clubrooms are home to a much wider sporting community too, including cricket, football, netball and softball.

With a big clubroom roof and plenty happening around the grounds, it was a great spot to put the Hawke’s Bay sun to work.

It’s always good watching a roof transform over the course of an install. From a blank sheet of iron, to rails and panels going on, to a fully operational solar system generating power for the business below.

Here's another of our more recent builds at Motordrome Tyre & Auto Services Hastings. The roof has 25 × 470W TW Solar panels, creating an 11.75kW solar array expected to generate around 16,000 kWh of electricity each year.

Motordrome began in Hastings in the early 1970s and remains a family-owned Hawke’s Bay business today. This solar system is a great fit for a busy local business that’s been part of Hastings for more than 50 years, with plenty happening on site during daylight hours when those panels are at their most productive.

At Integrated Energy, we love supporting local businesses. If you are a business owner thinking about solar at your premises, why not reach out for a chat!

We love helping rural schools harness the power of the Hawke’s Bay sun.

Our install at Bridge Pa School added 40 solar panels to the roof, creating a 17.6kW system that generates around 24,650 kWh of clean electricity each year.

It’s a particularly good fit for a school with such a strong connection to the surrounding land. Bridge Pa School sits among the orchards, farms and vineyards of Hawke’s Bay and serves children from Years 1–8, with deep connections to its local whānau, hapū and wider community.

Now, a decent amount of the energy used for teaching and learning each day can be generated right there on the school roof.

There’s something extremely aesthetically pleasing about a finished solar system install.

Something about the uniform panels sparkling in the sun, stacked across a large roof, and the thought that yet another building is being powered by the sun.

This one is right in our backyard at the new Snap Fitness on Cooper Street in Havelock North. With 88 panels, this system is turning what would otherwise be unused roof space into clean, locally generated electricity. It's expected to generate around 47,000 kWh of electricity each year, helping power a facility that’s open to members 24/7.

Hōhepa’s Poraiti community gets 78% of its electricity use from the sun.

A while back we installed a 30kW solar system at Hōhepa Hawkes Bay’s Poraiti community to help provide a more sustainable and locally generated source of energy for a place that provides homes, education and support for people with intellectual disabilities.

Hōhepa has been part of Hawke’s Bay for more than 65 years, with a pretty incredible vision: every life fully lived. Sustainability has always been a huge part of that kaupapa too, from biodynamic farming and native planting to reducing waste and embracing renewable energy.

The system uses 94 solar panels and, over 12 months, generates more than 41,000 kWh of electricity, covering around 78% of the site's energy needs.

That means more of the energy needed to keep this important community running is generated right there on the roof, reducing reliance on grid electricity and supporting Hōhepa’s wider commitment to a more sustainable future.

A great project, and one we are incredibly proud of.
