After a few weeks of hard mahi on this project in New Plymouth, it was pretty special to get a phone call from one of the neighbours on the street:

"Your guys are absolutely amazing. The crew have communicated well, everything has been done with minimal disruption, and they're tidy, respectful and very professional. You'd hear about all the negative stuff, but I just wanted to call and give you some positive feedback. Tell your team they're excellent guys. You did an incredible job."

Thank you for taking the time to call. Working on a busy street isn't always easy, so it's good to know the crew got it right. Credit to the boys on this one.

If you have a project that needs professional expertise to get the job done well and done the right way, we're only a phone call or message away. Call Joel at 021 195 4204.

Summer is getting closer, it's the right time to get things done around your farm.

The forecasters reckon this El Niño is shaping up to be a big one. Taranaki usually gets off lighter than the east coast, but it seems like we can expect more wind, drier spells, and dearer feed if other regions run short.

What's worth thinking about to prepare?

💧 Water. If your supply struggled last summer, it'll struggle again. Now's the time to look at extra storage, a new dam or bigger trough lines

🌽 Feed. This could get expensive if other parts of the country are dry. Spring surplus is the cheapest feed you'll get this year, so make sure you've got bunker or pad space to store it.

🐄 Cows. Think about shade, shorter walks and decent races. Rough races slow cows down and cause lameness on hot days.

🌲 Shelterbelts. Stronger westerlies are on the way. If there's a dodgy old pine line near the shed or power lines, it will be worth getting it sorted before it comes down on its own.

Some of that you'll sort yourself. Some of it needs a digger - races, feed pads, bunkers, troughs, clearing old shelterbelts and that's where we can help. If you've got a job in mind, or would like to discuss, flick Joel a text on 021 195 4204.

Before, during, and after — this coastal Taranaki paddock went from an old quarry to flat crop land, giving our client land that can be put to work once again.

Running 3D machine control on our effluent pond build near Bulls.

The operator's working straight off the digital design, guided in real time to the exact depth and grade the pond needs — no stakes or string lines required. Makes for a faster job and a more accurate finish, which matters when fall and containment need to be spot on.

From above, you get a real sense of the scale of this 10,000,000L effluent pond job in Bulls — no small feat especially with the construction being on sand. Great work from our team on the ground there!

Safety isn't just a box we tick — it's how we operate every day on site.

Proud to announce Excavat has achieved SiteWise Gold status for 2026/27, scoring 100%. That result comes down to the team keeping our systems and procedures tight and actually following them on the job, not just on paper.

Good mahi to our team who makes safety a priority day in, day out.

Housepad complete on Harakeke Place for RP Builders.

This was an elevated, sloping site, so it needed solid cut and fill work to get a level, stable pad ready to build on - benching into the high side and building up the low side with compacted fill.

Get in touch if you've got a sloping site that needs sorting.
