✏Top Tip - language library ✏
Do you find yourself writing about your organisation time and time again? Sometimes get lost for words or short on time? My top tip for today is to create a language library for your non-profit or your project.
✏
When you are feeling particularly articulate open up a word document and create some blurbs, for example...
✏ A 50 word blurb
✏ A 250 word blurb
✏ A formal one
✏ An informal one
✏ A blurb aimed at service users
✏ One aimed at supporters
This is a live document and the blurbs can be updated all the time. If one day you write sometime particularly awesome - pasted it in the language library.
✏Use the blurbs as a base and tailor your writing to the purpose and audience. It helps to form a consistent voice for your non-profit.
✏ Warning! This is not an excuse to get lazy - beware of overuse, suddenly everything you write has the exact same phrases. But if you treat the language library as a starting point when you are stuck for words or you need to pull something together quickly it can help you to work more efficiently.
🤓Finally, use a google doc or something similar and encourage the whole team to get involved so that it's a tool everyone can use.
