Last week, we welcomed a group of students from Otamatea High School led by Teacher Marco Troost to Rural Design for some hands-on learning outside the classroom.
The students gained practical experience in the native plant production process, learning how a tree is grown from seed through to being ready for planting. They also learned the correct techniques for planting native trees and explored the important role revegetation plays in improving water quality, reducing erosion, enhancing biodiversity, and restoring natural ecosystems.
It was great to see the students engaging with the environment and gaining a better understanding of the work involved in creating healthy, resilient landscapes for future generations.
