We help make sense of the numbers so you can take care of your pain points and fears, allowing you to create your own success. Our vision is 'Successful businesses creating successful communities'. Our journey started in 2003 with our founder, Di Crawford-Errington. “Starting a business is hard - but no one told me that at the time. I was a solo mum with two wee girls aged eight and five, one of who had some health challenges. I was working two jobs - one for a government department (not IR!) and doing the books for a plumber as a second job. What started as seeing a huge gap in the market for ground floor business support for tradies, and an idea to be able to work from home and be present for my two girls as a part time gig, morphed into a realty when upon moving in with my now hubby, I promptly announced I wanted to leave my stable government job and give this bookkeeping business lark a real go. And back me unconditionally he did. It has been a bit of a wild ride this business thing. One I thought I had to do on my own. Looking back I jumped in boots and all, not really knowing anything about running a business. It was a brave leap of faith, and just like a sponge I soaked up all the knowledge I could. I researched. I asked questions. I gave things a go. I made my share of mistakes, some little ones… and some not so little ones. I learnt about employing staff using trial and error, I learnt about software by getting in and giving it a go, and I learnt about people. That is what our business is all about. I was introduced fairly early on to an accountant who loved the work I was doing with a mutual client. Gosh I learnt so much from him and to this day will be forever grateful for his support and friendship. It was also the start of understanding that I needed to surround myself with experts in those areas I wasn't an expert in and ask for help so I could learn and expand my knowledge, in turn deliver superior results for my clients. That asking is so hard isn't it? My passion is to inspire and empower people to succeed, in business and in life. We love to walk the road with our clients, holding their hand through their own business journey so they are not alone in traversing the challenges that business ownership brings. Successful businesses create successful communities and it is such a privilege to assist and support our clients in writing the next page of their story. Starting a business is hard, but gosh its been the best decision I ever made.”

Today we are a small but mighty team with a wide ranging skill set and a hunger for helping our clients in a real, authentic, relevant way. Do you need help? Please reach out, take the first step and ask. You do not have to do this business gig alone. Get in touch for a free no obligation chat about how we might best assist you to create your own success.

Leave is the single biggest area where NZ businesses get payroll wrong — and there is a lot to get right. If the NZ government spent years struggling with its own payroll compliance, a trades business owner doing it alone with limited time is already at a disadvantage. One message is all it takes to start sorting it out — judgment-free, straightforward, and fully supported.

One missed payment, one error, and the trust you've built can vanish. The best way to keep your team happy and your business healthy is to actually understand the legislation — not just hope the software has it covered. Message me CHECKUP and let's make sure everything is ticking along as it should.

Payroll errors don't disappear — they compound. Every pay run adds more weight to the problem. The software didn't flag it because the software only knows what you told it — and if you told it wrong, it'll repeat that mistake forever. Message me and I'll show you how to catch these things early, before they become a real headache.

Most payroll systems are set up once and left alone — but rules change, people change, and what worked last year might not work this year. Regular checks can save you thousands and a whole lot of stress. Reach out and I'll show you where to start, no blame, just peace of mind.

Payroll issues don't show up until someone leaves, takes a holiday, or an auditor calls — by then, it's already too late to prevent the damage. Luck is not a payroll strategy. Knowledge is, experience is, and proper setup is. Reach out and I'm happy to help you trade the guesswork for certainty.

Your payroll software will crunch the numbers you give it — but it won't check the legislation, and it won't catch what you set up wrong. A lack of time and understanding is no defence when things unravel. Message me today and let's make sure you're not heading for a nasty surprise.

7 years ago, this gorgeous young 24-year-old human graced the office with her calming presence and fun personality. How blessed we have been!

Danie started at Ontrack knowing absolutely nothing about payroll, except for the fact she got a payslip each week from her previous job. I had made a strategic decision to employ absolute newbies to payroll as the habits bought into the role from those with experience (usually learnt from a software process or someone else's beliefs taught to them) was harder to evolve than teaching the critical thinking required from a legislation-based space first, then interpreting that into the software to get the right result.

Danie has been an absolute powerhouse in the payroll space since the beginning, taken ownership of her learning, stepping into management and is now training and leading the next generation of payrollers who have the opportunity to work within our team. All of which she does with patience, compassion, understanding and grace.

So, here's to celebrating you lovely lady. Thank you for all you bring to the team at The Ontrack Group. We appreciate you so much more than you know. I really hope you know that.

There are two types of payroll — the payroll you think you have, and the payroll you actually have. Most business owners assume everything's fine because nothing looks wrong. But by the time issues show themselves, they've already grown. Message me CARE and let's make sure your team is being looked after the way they deserve.
