Hi team....even with all the problems we all have presently with wars and fuel prices...its nice to open the letter box and have someone send you a plastic banana with a secret message inside....pretty funny and made my day!....turned out to be a lunch invitation from my Sisters...and to bring my son Mark who you all know from the water truck
My dear old late Dad would send his best friend real bananas back in the day. he would scratch a secret message into the skin and his friend would have to wait until the thing went nearly rotten before he could make any sense of the message...eventually the post office stopped them sending real fruit and they moved onto plastic bananas with a wee hole to put a message sometimes written in lemon juice....I guess you had to hold it up to the light to read it....thought you might get a laugh too...

Hi team....we picked up an old boundary fence off Facebook market place in South Auckland ...it was just right to make bird boxes for our garden....I added white paint to look like old bird poo...even though they are newly built they look the part and make me smile every time Iook at them....Mark my Son checking the progress of our first Tennant...a'myna bird ' Cheeky thing...I made that hole to small on purpose so they wouldn't go in but she kept trying till she could squeeze in the wee hole...did you know the Myna bird is a type of Starling from Iran originally...anyway she was freaking out when Markie took his camera shot of her eggs...

Hi team....had fun today seeing if the water wheel we made from an old cable reel would actually work....you know it started straight away...possibly its running to fast but I can put a tap on the line to slow the water flow over the wheel...with some planting it'll look like its been there for years....next order of business is to build our Xmas tree in the front paddock...its huge and takes a coupe of days to do...anyway water Wheel works and sounds like an old steam train and great to look at from our house...will change that plastic pipe from the rum barrel to a sluicebox to make it look better....G

Hi team...while we wait for Summer to kick off with Swimming pools and empty tanks we have cut down an old steel cable reel into a water wheel for the garden...I've always wanted one but its not something that's for sale...we picked up this reel in South Auckland from a subdivision...no one wanted anything for it so bought it home...we have a perfect spot in the garden for it too with running water....my son Mark who most of you know did a fantastic job welding it back together once we'd cut two and a feet out of the centre to make it smaller then we welded pieces in for puddles...already its been loads of fun working out the math...even went to Auckland bearings and got water proof bearings for it....will keep you posted on her progress into a water feature

Hi team....you may have noticed how many water trucks are on the road....we counted 7 today alone....okay something must be up!....might be time to check gutters and look in your tank to get an idea on what's happening its not usual to do 7 loads in a day at the moment....not all for people running out but things are changing weather wise....its great to pick a water hero of the family and get them to report their water report....that's gutters too no short cuts Dad.....G

Hi team.....seems simple cleaning gutters but it creeps up on you....so many places we go to regularly that are out of water over the winter months and are usually related to the gutters being blocked...everyone's busy and when it finally happens and you're out of water because your poor old tank isn't feed any longer from the gutters...there's afew things that might as well be considered...let's clean the tank while its empty is a perfect decision because that will give you clean water for the next few years...or you can fill it straight away which is a short term fix really ....usually though you will have to put up with dirty water stirred up by the tanker delivering the top up water for afew hours....basically cleaning the tank while its empty is the best option....there's great people cleaning tanks in our area...we like them all and have no favourites
its a miserable job and not for the faint hearted.....I personally have seen our tank cleaning friends physically sick cleaning tanks....guess what I'm getting at is let's clean our tanks at least annually......I have 4 big tanks here at Waterwagon and I clean them regularly and its no big deal...when its nearly empty jump in and clean it or use one of our experienced tank cleaning locals to do it....they are truly fabulous.....see you in the soup....G

Hi team...nice to see so many lovely posts of our son Markie....for years he has worked along side his mother at the local cemetery removing the excess dirt from our beloved ...as a young man I'm surprised he never grumbles just gets on with it....the cemetery is always looking for help to keep a high standard for our loved ones and if you think you'd like to give afew hours every so often get in touch its a lovely place to work while you wait....G

Hi team...took my adult kids to the zoo today they hadn't been since they we're kids...
For me taking pics in the background I liked the animals but was more interested in the theme setting which was fantastic for wee island nation that we are...my kids wanted more than anything to just go slowly and enjoy everything....well we did just that and it was great having a yarn about this and that and catching up on their busy lives while tigers tried to have a snooze behind the glass....if you haven't been to the zoo for awhile....take some friends and have a special day...you'll be blown away by the orangutan enclosure with its huge ropes and massive towers above the walkways seemingly each day they put food in one of the towers and they swing on the ropes above you looking for the treats....that's so cool....great day out and we found it cheaper buying our tickets online....its cheaper for Aucklanders but take a rates bill or something with your address on it to prove it....they will ask for it.....an ice cream is $6.50 so take your own scobby snacks.....G

Hi team....dear Markie who most will know from the water truck was asked to repair an old gave site at the Kaukapakapa Church on Peak Road...over a 100 years old a small tree had disrupted a concrete wall holding a beautiful iron loop and spear fence...he took it all apart and removed the roots of the tree replaced the blocks and welded the fence back together for another 100 years

Hi team...as you know our place is covered with Art work and regularly people come in and ask for bits and pieces to be fixed mostly welding on firewood elevators rotary slashers and the biggest thing we've had in our yard is a tractor unit and its massive trailer....with that job was a simple repair to a rear bumper and tool box....a week ago a teacher called in and asked to loan a wheel barrow for a play at her school on the north Shore....I didn't have anything that a wee one could push so I felt she went away abit sad....it didn't sit well with me either so I racked through my pile of bits and found a wheel for a barrow....so went down to an old fence with just the right old timber for a ratty old wheel barrow and pulled it apart.....there was more than enough for a perfect barrow for a kid to push on to stage for a reenactment of jack and the bean stork....the wheel barrow would be covered in the Travers wears including those magical beans....anyway another good deed done and its so easy to make someone's day ..plus its another piece to add to the garden when they've finished with it...G

Hi team....this will make you laugh we inherited this east African company musket...(flint lock.)...its all working just need some supplies..like black powder flint and lead balls....the whole thing is covered with mother of pearl inlays...its very unusual....seemingly it was designed to be fired while riding a Camel at speed....anyway Mark my son who you all know spent hours cleaning all the dirt off it....we will probably put it on trademe to see if its worth anything....G

Hi team.....new truck is ready for deliveries..tonight she is full of treated water to safe guard against anything ....that would be normal practice with any work carried out with a food grade vehicle and in the morning we will pump that out and then flush again...funny enough we have work to do even though it's been raining...can't wait to get back in the driver's seat and come see you all....G
