Hi team.....seems simple cleaning gutters but it creeps up on you....so many places we go to regularly that are out of water over the winter months and are usually related to the gutters being blocked...everyone's busy and when it finally happens and you're out of water because your poor old tank isn't feed any longer from the gutters...there's afew things that might as well be considered...let's clean the tank while its empty is a perfect decision because that will give you clean water for the next few years...or you can fill it straight away which is a short term fix really ....usually though you will have to put up with dirty water stirred up by the tanker delivering the top up water for afew hours....basically cleaning the tank while its empty is the best option....there's great people cleaning tanks in our area...we like them all and have no favourites
its a miserable job and not for the faint hearted.....I personally have seen our tank cleaning friends physically sick cleaning tanks....guess what I'm getting at is let's clean our tanks at least annually......I have 4 big tanks here at Waterwagon and I clean them regularly and its no big deal...when its nearly empty jump in and clean it or use one of our experienced tank cleaning locals to do it....they are truly fabulous.....see you in the soup....G

Hi team...nice to see so many lovely posts of our son Markie....for years he has worked along side his mother at the local cemetery removing the excess dirt from our beloved ...as a young man I'm surprised he never grumbles just gets on with it....the cemetery is always looking for help to keep a high standard for our loved ones and if you think you'd like to give afew hours every so often get in touch its a lovely place to work while you wait....G

Hi team....dear Markie who most will know from the water truck was asked to repair an old gave site at the Kaukapakapa Church on Peak Road...over a 100 years old a small tree had disrupted a concrete wall holding a beautiful iron loop and spear fence...he took it all apart and removed the roots of the tree replaced the blocks and welded the fence back together for another 100 years

Hi team.....new truck is ready for deliveries..tonight she is full of treated water to safe guard against anything ....that would be normal practice with any work carried out with a food grade vehicle and in the morning we will pump that out and then flush again...funny enough we have work to do even though it's been raining...can't wait to get back in the driver's seat and come see you all....G

Hi team...finally the tanks back on the new truck...the water pump is all plumbed in and the all important water 1 number plate on...next job is deciding where the boxes that hold all the water hoses gets fixed onto the truck....that's going to be tricky as they are pretty heavy....thanks to our friends who've lent us the fancy magnetic drill press and the awesome leather welding blankets...and of course gone out of there way to supply the steel needed...its been hard work but fun ...looking forward to the new season with more horsepower ...how amazing are phone cameras these three photos were taken tonight after we finished up in total darkness and the camera grabbed enough light....G

Hi team....just posting this to any body whose interested on following our build of the new truck...trucks that have turntables for hauling articulated trailers have a dove tail manufactured into there chassis to make it easier to back up to a trailer and achieve hook up....for us it has to go because we need the chassis to be flat to take the water tank....we started by bending up some 10mm steel flat steel and adding strength by filling the gap with thick plate steel then taking afew measurements and welding it all in place trying to make it as normal looking as we could....looks good painted...thanks to Andy and Tony for your efforts bending the steel and welding...Tony is a certified welder so was a pleasure to work with...next step is to back under the water tank hanging in our shed to make measurements for 16 holes that need to be drilled into the chassis to fix the tank to the chassis....fingers crossed

Hi team....changing of the guard here at waterwagon today with the arrival of our replacement truck....in these photos the new truck has the black chassis rails and the old original in blue....so nice being here to watch the driver come in the gate have a quick yarn and leave in our old one....sad to see her go knowing she going to be scrapped....we spent the rest of the day removing all the long haul equipment like trailer braking lines and the extra wiring for trailer lights as it use to be a line haul tractor unit...anyway made lots of changes even had time to take it down to the Gull to buy Julie's cheese burger pie's....you've got to try one!....

Hi team....the truck dealer I bought my truck from won truck of the year with his 540 horse power vintage Scania....inside the cab was absolutely beautiful....he pulled it out of his workshop so I could put the truck I was buying on the concrete floor so I could get underneath her with my touch to check out the chassis rails....such a nice guy I know he's a salesman but so professional

Hi team....my son Mark working between the showers on this rainy old day....once again we've taken the tank off the truck as it failed its COF so we decided to trade it in on the exact same model truck so the tank will line up easily....well better not say that to soon....the truck yard is delivering the truck tomorrow from south Auckland and taking ours away....just taking the sign writing off and changing the plates...mine are water 1 so wanted to keep them
We've had this truck for 10 years!...but it was an old truck that was working moving containers on the water front it had nearly half a million km's on it....its also the anniversary of our other truck that burnt out we'd had that for 10 years too....be sad to see her go but rust never sleeps and water trucks are always wet which just promotes rust
Should take 2 weeks to fit the tank to the next truck fingers crossed.....the last 2 photos are of the next truck just before it goes to the paint shop for a tidy up....G
