The Rebel Cutter

The Rebel Cutter I cut timber. I cut lies. I cut systems that no longer serve. Green as, been in the game 4 months 👌🏽

Built by earth. Tempered by fire.

Anyone that knows the Kawhia area know any good fishing spots? Pretty keen to hit up a spot after work one time.

Heard there’s some pretty decent spots around Kawhia Harbour, Aotea, the wharf, and out along Ocean Beach if you're into surfcasting. Been told kahawai, snapper, gurnard and trevally can all be caught around there depending on the conditions and tides.

Would be keen to hear some local knowledge. What spots are worth a crack from the shore after work, and what bait or lures seem to work best around here? 🎣🌊

Day off today for the annual fishing trip. Didn't catch heaps, but still managed a decent feed. Ended up with a good-sized gurnard, kahawai, snapper, yellowtail mackerel, and even landed my first-ever barracuda.

Can't complain about a day spent on the water with good company and a few fish in the bin. Back to the grind Tuesday.

Bit of Friday falling today getting some more training in with the ported Stihl MS 500i running a 28-inch bar and a Stihl chain as well.

Yeah good day for it. Trees are dropping nice and clean and the saw is pulling hard. 🤙🪵🌲

Awesome day to be a polley. Was pretty cool watching the fog roll over the hills at sunrise this morning. One of those mornings that reminds you why we do this job. 🌄🌲

Cant wait to move into my new accommodation. Whole 2 bedroom unit to myself, so I can finally have my family stay every now and then comfortably.

No more communal kitchen. No more random fu***rs stealing your food 🤣

Looking forward to having my own space and a bit of peace and quiet for once. Onwards and upwards 👌

The Oregon chains are definitely not what they used to be 4 years ago when I first started running a saw. The grind has changed big time and honestly it’s absolutely s**t compared to the old chain.

Used to hold an edge properly, cut clean and actually feel aggressive in the cut. Now they seem softer, dull quicker and don’t have the same bite at all. You spend more time touching them up than actually cutting wood.

Surely I’m not the only one that’s noticed the difference? What chains are you fullas running these days?

How many times have you wrecked a saw? Doesn’t matter if it was a blown top end, snapped crank, smashed handle or straight operator error 🤣

Today I wrecked my new build while manual processing. Was cutting the dot off a log and reached around to cut the other side. Bar got pinched, log fell down and absolutely squished my dawgs and snapped the top mount clean off the case.

Proper “for f**k sake” moment 😂

Lets hear your worst saw carnage stories 👇

The 044 is humming nicely now. Been trimming and manual processing all morning with it and she’s just eating. Hard to beat the sound of an old 10mm slant singing through timber after bringing it back from the dead. 💪🪵🪚
