After much anticipation, the Kumeu River CRU for the 2025 Vintage is now open. 🥂

Kumeu River CRU was created to ensure our most loyal customers receive an allocation of our highly sought-after Single Vineyard and Estate wines each year ahead of public release.

2025 was an outstanding Vintage. A remarkably dry, warm season, steady warmth without extremes, gave wines rich in texture, carried by the zesty minerality Kumeu is known for. We’re especially excited about the Single Vineyard Chardonnays, keenly typical of their sites.

CRU members are also invited to join us each year for a tasting event where you’re among the first to experience our 2025 release, followed by a barrel tasting of the 2026 Vintage with Michael.

Fifty years after the original Judgement of Paris changed the wine world forever, Kumeu River Coddington Chardonnay 2024 has been named the top Chardonnay at Judgement+50, a global blind tasting organised by The International Wine & Food Society.

In 1976, a blind tasting in Paris changed the wine world and Chardonnay forever. The Judgement of Paris proved that Chardonnay greatness could come from unexpected places.

Now, 50 years later, it is an incredible honour, and surprise, for our Kumeu River Coddington Chardonnay to be invited to take part in the 50th Anniversary tasting celebrating one of the most important moments in wine history.

At Kumeu River, Chardonnay is at the heart of what we do. Over time, Maté’s Vineyard, Hunting Hill, Rays Road, and Coddington have each revealed themselves as unique terroirs worthy of celebrating through their own individual vinification and bottling.

To stand alongside some of the world’s most iconic Chardonnays in this historic tasting is not only a great moment for our history, it’s also a reminder of how far New Zealand Chardonnay has come. Just as Napa once changed the world’s perception of Chardonnay, New Zealand now stands proudly among the very best on the global stage.

A rare evening with Kumeu River and The Wine Room Auckland.

Join us for a limited seating dinner celebrating Rays Road, our newest Single Vineyard Chardonnay, renowned for its limestone texture and unmistakable Chablis like character.

Co hosted by Paul Brajkovich and David Nash, the night will feature a complete vertical of every Rays Road Chardonnay ever produced, alongside a selection of Pinot Noir from the same site.
