RUGBY LEAGUE UPDATE : A number of SMC girls played for the Wellington Orcas U16 & U18’s Teams over the holidays at the Nationals 9’s in Auckland.

The U16’s won the final & are 9’s U16’s National Champions for 2023.
On top of this, they have been nominated for Young Sports Team of the Year at the Kāpura Hutt Valley Sports Awards later on this month.

Luca-Bella Ngatuere-Ongley
Mia Ualesi
Te Raukura Leafe

Billie & Te Raukura were named in the U16 Tournament Team.

The U18’s Squad placed 6th overall. Of the 13 girls, 6 were new to the sport of Rugby League & 2 were in their second season - so definitely a growing sport & a great accomplishment considering the number of teams across the competition.
