Disputes often go around in circles with little progress. Parties get stuck defending and justifying their original positions ...talking past each other. Move from: Why won't they listen?... To: What does the other party already accept that might help them move in the direction needed? This 2 min video is a crackup and lays it bare: loaded with cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias which is so powerful if left unchecked. Sometimes conflict needs a 3rd party to help change the script, enabling a move to shared understanding and agreement.
