We’re delighted to announce that Te Kairanga Estate Pinot Noir 2024 has been awarded Platinum at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the world's most respected and influential wine competitions.

Judged alongside thousands of wines from across the globe, a Platinum medal places Te Kairanga Estate Pinot Noir 2024 among the finest wines entered in this year's competition. A tremendous achievement and recognition of the work our viticulture and winemaking teams put into every vintage.

This year’s results are a powerful testament to the quality and style of the Martinborough region, with Palliser Wine Estate’s Hua Nui Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024 and Craggy Range Winery's Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc 2025 also being awarded Platinum medals.

“For a region that produces less than 2% of New Zealand wine, Martinborough really punches above it weight. It’s wonderful to be recognised alongside our neighbours for that commitment to quality,” John Kavanagh, Te Kairanga Winemaker.

Happy International Sauvignon Blanc Day.

We're celebrating with our Te Kairanga Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2025, which recently took home the Trophy for Champion Sauvignon Blanc at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2025. A standout win for Martinborough in category usually dominated by Marlborough!

Te Kairanga Estate Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and precise with crunchy fruit, herbal lift, blackcurrant leaf and a subtle saline finish.

We are excited to share that Te Kairanga enjoyed extraordinary success at two recent wine shows. The 2025 Te Kairanga Estate Sauvignon Blanc was awarded a Trophy for Champion Sauvignon Blanc at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2025. To match this expectational accolade the 2024 Te Kairanga Estate Pinot Noir was garnered with the Trophy for Champion Pinot Noir at the National Wines Awards of Aotearoa New Zealand.

On stage, soak up the soulful stylings and powerhouse vocals of Hollie Smith, the genre-spinning magic of Sweet Mix Kids, and the retro glam and infectious energy of The Beatgirls, interspersed with sets from DJ Takas, for an intimate Saturday session that will have you dancing until sunset.

If you're not in Martinborough, take advantage of easy transportation options with return bus add-ons from Wellington, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown and Featherston (from $30), and free shuttles to and from Martinborough Square, so you can sip responsibly.

Meet Te Kairanga Winemaker, John Kavanagh, at The Runholder on Friday 8th August. As part of the inaugural Pour & Explore Martinborough series this winter, John will be on hand pouring something special (to be revealed!) and guiding tastings in an informal, drop-in style setting. Come for a sip, a chat, and a deeper look into what makes his craft so special. Tastings are complimentary.

Tasting sessions are 2.30pm-4.30pm and 6.00pm-8.00pm. Bookings are not required, however if you plan to stay for lunch or dinner before or after your tasting, so be sure to book your restaurant table online at www.therunholder.co.nz/book
