Tonight we had the privilege of helping Jono Ridler and his crew come ashore in to Orui after another gruelling day of battling the ocean to raise awareness as he continues down the length of the North Island on his 1,000-mile swim mission, he carries a clear message to decision makers - it's time for Aotearoa New Zealand to make a quick transition away from bottom trawling, with the first priority being an end to bottom trawling on seamounts and other vital marine ecosystems.
What an incredible human, no wetsuit, no fins!!

A huge thank you to the wonderful support we received on Wednesday at the annual Riversdale Beach Surf Club Quiz Night.
We are truly humbled by the support of this incredible community.
To those that suppiled prizes, goods and services, a huge thank you. Without these items our auction would not be possible.
And to those that bid and won these prizes, your generosity to our club is overwhelming.
The funds raised, just over $23,000, will go towards our training and development program for new IRB drivers and crewman, an advanced 3 day PHEC( pre hospital emergency care) first aid course for 10 of our senior guards and new storage racking for our rescue equipment and nipper training gear.

Miracle at Sea: Dog Found Alive Days After Yacht Capsizes, Still in Life Jacket

In an incredible turn of events, a curly-coat retriever named Rimu has been reunited with her owner after surviving four days at sea following a yacht capsize off Whananaki, Northland on December 30. The yacht overturned in rough conditions near Elizabeth Reef, forcing the skipper into the water — but Rimu, wearing her bright orange life jacket, somehow endured the elements and stayed afloat until she was found alive. 

The dramatic rescue came after frantic search efforts along the rugged Northland coastline. Locals joined in, using drones and scanning rocky headlands in the hopes of spotting the courageous four-legged swimmer. After days of uncertainty and worry, the joyful moment when Rimu was located offered a powerful reminder of resilience and hope. 

Her story has captured hearts nationwide — a testament to the importance of safety gear, the strength of animals, and the community spirit that rallied together when it mattered most.
