ATTENTION!!

After 16years of creating and maintaining locks I have decided it’s time for me to hang up my crotchet hook.

As hard of a decision as this was for me to make, I want to be honest with myself and my clients, and feel that over the past couple of years I have lost my passion for dreads specifically.

However, I recently had my dreads tidied by the lovely Lilian who owns her own business Dreads n’ Locks in Petone, Wellington, but who travels monthly to Hawkes Bay to work out of Boxed Out Barber shop in Latham Street. Below is her details. As of January 3rd 2024 please contact her for all your new sets and maintenance needs.

Unfortunately I am no longer taking on any new clients both for new sets or maintenance.

After 2 hand surgeries (carpal tunnel release on each hand) it's time for me and my hands to kick back on the frequency and amount of dread work/clients I do, so with that being said, I'm only doing maintenance on clients that I have already worked on.

Try searching 'Napier' or Hawkes Bay on the New Zealand Dreadlock Community page. Or if you are prepared to travel and are looking for a new set of dreads, I can't recommend Jam in Wellington on Ghuznee Street, enough. That's where I was trained and who by far do the best dreads in NZ. Thanks again for all your support over the years!

What is Neroli? We get asked this question often so here’s a bit of info 😊 Neroli is a citrus flower, it emits a rich, floral scent, with citrusy overtones. Because of its naturally soothing and cleansing properties, neroli oil can help alleviate flakes and itchiness caused by dryness and dandruff. Scalps that overproduce or underproduce natural oils will benefit from neroli’s natural sebum-balancing properties and lightweight conditioning. So there ya have it! Combined with lime, clary sage and patchouli our lime neroli products smell citrus sweet with a warm earthy undertone.

A belated Happy New Year to you all. 🎉🎊🥳

December and January have been a crazy couple of months and now I’m back into my work flow for the year I have taken some time to review my policies especially those around new client bookings. 🤓📝

From March 1st I will be taking a $50 NON-refundable deposit before your appointment is confirmed. 💰💳🙅🏼‍♀️

If you can’t come in to the salon to pre-pay this then it can be done via bank transfer to the salons business account. 💸💻📱

If you choose to not show up, and not contact me at LEAST 24hours before your appointment to reschedule then this deposit is forfeited to cover the cost of my time and the loss of availability for another client waiting to get in. 💁🏼‍♀️

Covid has changed the way we do business and has meant we have had to re-look at the way we run our businesses so our clients and ourselves do not lose out. 👌🏼

🔴🟠 As of Friday December 3rd during RED and ORANGE lights I will only be able to do maintenance on clients that can provide me with their vaccination pass showing they have had BOTH vaccinations. This will then be checked off (a box on your client records gets ticked to say you have met COVID vaccine requirements which means 2 vaccinations NOT ONE, and that your vaccination pass has been sighted.

In 🟢 GREEN light I can do maintenance on unvaccinated clients but you will be required to wear a mask, practice social distancing (only the person who has the appointment can be in the salon)

🔴🟠🟢🚦 TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM - FYI

As some of you may/may not know at some stage very soon it will be mandatory for all hairdressers in NZ to be vaccinated.

This means I will only be able to do maintenance on people who can provide the salon with their digital vaccination passport.

Personally I don’t have a problem whether you choose to be vaccinated or not, but unfortunately I have NZ government and hairdressing industry standards to adhere to so my hands are tied in that respect sadly.

Will provide more info, dates when this will come into play as information becomes available to me.

A FRIENDLY REMINDER…

Have had a lot of people NO SHOW or cancel last minute/on the day of their appointment once I call to ask where they are.

Don’t want to be a Karen but time is $ people and I don’t want to have to start taking non refundable deposits upon booking maintenance sessions to cover my costs.

PLEASE let me know at LEAST 24 hours before your appt if you can’t make it or need to rebook for whatever reason.

Hey loyal followers!

I have decided to take a break from doing NEW sets of dreads for the time being.

I will still be doing maintenance on pre-exisiting sets of dreads but for now I am not taking on any NEW sets. Happy to still take on new clients but for maintenance only.

Post 2 hand surgeries, I have felt a shift physically and probably a tad mentally, and feel the need to protect the longevity of my hands as long as possible. I have a large clientele for just my normal hairdressing services already and an internship within the NZ Redken Artisitc team that I need to preserve my hands for and focus on for now.

Thanks for all of your continued loyalty and support. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without you all.

Any changes to this I will let you all know.

Any pre-exisiting sets booked in in July/August will still be honoured but these will be my last sets and I will not be booking any others before these appts.

Hey followers! 🤟🏼

Unfortunately and most inconveniently the ONLY bulk NZ supplier of a product I need to do new sets of dreads is no longer importing to NZ. I am trying to source new stock ASAP but until I do so, I will not be taking on any new sets of dreads.

I am still available for maintenance jobs and still selling and stocking Dread It dread wax and bands at Pure Hair.

I will update ASAP once I have a solution to this major problem.
